My name is Sherry Todd. I have lived in the North Bench at -for 40 years.
I am unable to attend the Yucaipa City Council meeting this evening, and as such, I am sending my public comments concerning tonight's meeting via this email so that they may be read and made a part of the record.
I am strongly opposed to the hiring of Chris Mann as our Yucaipa City Manager for the following reasons:
1. The firing of Ray Casey was underhanded to say the least. It is clear there is a secret agenda in the works.
2. Chris Mann was put into the position of city manager in a matter of moments following Ray Casey's departure.
3. Yucaipa has an assistant city manager who is quite capable of handling the city manager position if there had been a problem which would have allowed time for a proper vetting process of a new city manager and the transparent handling of the situation.
4. Ray Casey had recently received a renewal of a two-year contract due to the commendable job he has done for Yucaipa over the last two decades.
5. Chris Mann's background and current interests is a strong and undeniable conflict of interest with the city manager position as is blatantly obvious when perusing his website.
6. Chris Mann does not come to Yucaipa with good credentials and a successful record from his previous position as city manager of Canyon Crest.
7. As the scenario unfolds and the truth is coming to light, it reeks of special interest groups trying to line their pockets.
