Holly Grimm, Yucaipa, stated that the existing General Plan should be followed if it is the developer that is requesting a deviation to the Plan.

David Whitloch, Yucaipa, requested that the City Council mantain the one-acre lot designation.

Russ Caldwell, Yucaipa, urged the City Council to vote down this planned development.

Mr. Snodgrass further commented that, as a city, we have the opportunity to guide the future development of these properties to ensure that as much as 50% of the land remains open space and agriculture.

Hansen Wang, Yucaipa, explained that Craig Heaps stated publicly that, if approved, this project will be precedent setting. Mr. Wang stated that senior citizens require a certain amount of care and concern, and the proposed project is not a reflection of that.

Colleen Wang, Yucaipa, requested that a full EIR is performed to confirm there are no rare or endangered species in the area. Cesar Roldan, Yucaipa, urged the Council approve the project in order to preserve the land and the rural atmosphere of the North Bench.

City of Yucaipa
Council Member and Mayor

Yucaipa, CA 92399
RE: 172 UNITS-2nd Street
Dear Honorable Council Members and Mayor,
Please accept this correspondence in support of the above mentioned project.

As a mental health therapist in the public education setting, it is imperative we provide persons and especially families with children adequate housing for them to thrive both physically, emotionally, and psychologically. There is ample research to support that poor quality housing or lack of quality housing creates stress for parents, increases their own mental health problems and limits their ability to regulate family activities. Moreover, housing quality plays an important role and lays the foundation for children’s mental health.

The City of Yucaipa has a weighty decision to make with this project and upcoming multi-family high density housing projects. These apartments will provide many with safe and comfortable housing.

Projects near schools would be most advantageous since students can walk to school.

I am confident, as the elected leaders, you all see the need for these types of housing projects. Further, the State of California will likely pass further legislation for higher density projects and substantial fines for failure to adhere to these laws.

I support the172 units proposed for approval. I am confident the elected officials will do what is best for the majority in this beautiful city.

Much Success,
Elena A.Labastida, M.A. M.F.T.
