RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council award and authorize the Mayor to execute the Fourth Extension and Amendment to the contract between Animal Pest Management, Inc. and the City of Yucaipa and authorize the City Manager or his designee to administer the terms of the contract with Animal Pest Management Services, Inc. in the not -to -exceed amount of $58,276 for the Gopher and Rodent Control Program -- Project No. 11104 for FY24.

DISCUSSION:

On July 29, 2019, City Council approved a contract with Animal Pest Management Services, Inc. (APM) in the amount of $49,888 for the Gopher and Rodent Control Program (Contract). The Gopher and Rodent Control Program (Program) is designed and implemented to reduce and curb the infestation of gophers and rodents in City parks and other public facilities. The infestation of gophers and rodents can cause damage to irrigation lines, turf, plants/groundcover, and makes areas unsuitable for sports and other recreation activities. The Contract, approved in 2019, is for one (1) year and allows four (4) annual extensions, with adjustments based on the annual change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Riverside -San Bernardino -Ontario, CA Area for all Urban Communities as defined by the original Contract. Three (3) extensions and amendments have been approved by City Council since the original award of the Contract.

Staff has contacted APM regarding extending the Contract for FY24 for a proposed fourth extension and amendment to the contract. APM has agreed to an extension of the Contract and has agreed to an increase in the Contract based on the change in the CPI. The change in the CPI for March 2023 represents an increase of 4.6%. APM has provided the City with satisfactory service throughout the term of the Contract.

Staff is recommending that the City Council approve the fourth extension and amendment to the Contract with APM for FY24 in the amount of $58,276.
01 FISCAL IMPACT:

The FY24 Annual Budget includes the cost of this item.
