SUBJECT: Budget Amendment for Building & Safety Professional Services RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council authorize an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Annual Budget related to the Building and Safety professional service contract by:
1. Increasing the revenue budget in the General Fund Building and Safety Division for building and safety fee revenue by $1, 3 5 3 , 846; and
2. Increasing the expenditure budget in the General Fund Building and Safety Division for professional services by $880,000; and
3. Increasing the revenue budget in the Fire Fund for building and safety fee revenue by $138,462; and
4. Increasing the expenditure budget in the Fire Fund for professional services by $90,000.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Yucaipa contracts with Charles Abbott Associates, Inc. (CAA) to perform building and safety services. As defined in the agreement, the City pays CAA based on a percentage of gross revenue.
Fiscal Year 2022-23 (FY 23) total gross revenues are anticipated to be much higher than originally expected when the FY 23 Annual Budget was adopted. Therefore, a budget amendment is necessary to increase both revenue and expenditure budgets.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This budget amendment contains increases in revenue and expenditure budgets in both the General Fund and the Fire Fund, in the amounts indicated above. These increases are a reflection of increased revenues and are a net benefit to the Funds.
