SUBJECT: Trails and Open Space Committee Appointment
RECOMMENDATION:
1. That Councilmember Gamer review the attached Citizens Service Applications and nominate one (1) applicant for membership to the Trails and Open Space Committee; and
2. That the City Council vote on the appointment of Councilmember Gainer's nominated applicant.
The Trails and Open Space Committee currently has one vacant City Council appointed positlon due to a voluntary resignation. Ttus vacant position has a term expiraflon date of January I, 2025.
In March of 2023, the General Services/City Clerk Department posted a Trails and Open Space Committee member vacancy due to a voluntary resignation at that time. The vacancy was posted at City Hall, on the City website, at Yucaipa Library and in the local newspaper. At that time, the City had five (5) Citizen Service Applications on file from residents interested in being a member of the Trails and Open Space Committee. In response to the posting in March of 2023, staff received one (1) additional application for a total of six (6). On June 12, 2023, the City Council appointed a member to fill the vacancy.
On September S, 2023, another voluntary resignation occurred and once again the General Services/City Clerk Department posted a Trails and Open Space Committee member vacancy. At that time, the City had £ve (5) Citizen Service Applications on fale from residents interested in being a member of the Trails and Open Space Committee. In response to the posting in September of 2023 one (1) additional application was received for the vacancy. Staff reached out to the applicants to verify the availability and interest in becoming a member of the Committee. Three (3) of the six (6) applicants confirmed ffieir availability and interest in being a member of the Committee, resulting in a total of three (3) applications.
Attached to this report aze the three (3) applications on file for consideration by Councilmember Gamer.
