SUBJECT: Acceptance of Contract Work - Installation of Asphalt Speed Humps on Adams Street Project - Project No. I I199
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council
I ) Accept the contract work completed by NPG Corporation of Perris, CA. in the amount of $26,198 forthe Installation of Asphalt Speed Humps on Adams Street Project- Project No. lll99and;
2) Authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion for the Project.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION :
In 2008, the City Council adopted the FY200712008 Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program (Program) for the City of Yucaipa. The intent of the Program is to create an objective and consistent process to address traffic issues on residential streets such as speeding, parking and other safety-related matters.
On September 25, 2023, the implementation of seven (7) mitigation measures were approved by the City Council to address concerns that were determined to be of significance under the Program.
One of the approved measures included the installation of permanent asphalt speed humps on Adams Street between Avenue D and Avenue E. As a result, staff prepared the plans, specifications, and bid documents for the Installation of Asphalt Speed Humps on Adams Street Project, Project No. lll99 (Project). This includes the installation of permanent asphalt speed humps and associated signage and striping.
On November I 3h 2023 , the City Council awarded a contract to NPL Corporation of Perris, CA for the Project in the amount of $26,198. The City Council also approved the amount of $5,000 for contract contingency, for a total construction budget in the amount of $31,198.
Inspections performed by staff during the course of the work and upon completion of the work have ensured that the work was completed in accordance with the contract specifications for the Project.
Staff is recommending acceptance of the contract work for the Project in the amount of $26,198.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no additional fiscal impact as a result of the proposed recommendations.
