To whom this may concern,
I arn writing to wholeheartedly recommend Gretchen for a position on the Yucaipa Youth Advisory Comminee. As Gretchen's previous Honor's English Teacher at Yucaipa High School, I have had the privilege of observing and mentoring Cretchen in various capacities and am consistently impressed by her dedication, talent, and leadership abilities. Gretchen's involvement in extracurricular activities, including Varsity Cheerleading, Varsity Tennis, dance, and the Best Buddies program, showcase her commitment to her school and community.
Gretchen's dedication to her academics is as commendable as her extracurricular commitments.
Her motivation in the classroom is evident in her meticulous approach to her studies and her unwavering focus on academic excellence. Gretchen consistently challenges herself with a rigorous course load and excels in it, showing an impressive ability to understand and engage deeply with complex material. Her hard work and determination are reflected in her high grades and the respect she has earned from her teachers and peers alike. Grerchen's academic prowess does not exist in a vacuum; it is part of her holistic approach to her education, balancing her intellectual growth with her personal development through exnacurricular activities.
In her leadership roles, Gretchen has exernplified the same level of dedication and excellence. As the JV Cheer captain during her sophomore year, she exhibited exceptional leadership skills, fostering a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm amongst her teammates. Her promotion to the Varsity Cheerleading team is a direct result of her dedication and her ability to inspire those around her.
In the realm of sports, Gretchen has not only excelled Varsity Cheer, but also Tennis, where she holds a captain position, This role allows her to demonstrate her abiliry to lead by example and motivate her peers towards common goals. Her role as the Block Y Tennis Representative further underscores her commitment to this sport and her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities with grace and competence.
Gretchen's artistic talents are equally commendable. Her porrayal of the Sugar PIum Fairy in the 2023 Yucaipa Dance Nutcracker was nothing shon of mesmerizing. This role, often reserved for
the most dedicated and skilled dancers, highlighted Gretchen's discipline, artistic expression, and commitment to the art of ballet.
Perhaps most indicative of Gretchen's character is her involvement in the YHS Best Buddies program, Her participation since freshman year and her performances in the Best Buddies talent show demonstrate her compassion, empathy, and dedication to inclusiviry, as she works with our most vulnerable students. Gretchen's ability to connect with all members of our community and her efforts to provide a platform for every voice to be heard are commendable.
In Gretchen, you will find a candidate who is not only talented and driven but also deeply committed to making a positive impact in her community. Her leadership skills, coupled with her compassionate nature and willingness to take on challenges, make her an ideal candidate for the Yucaipa Youth Advisory Committee. I have no doubt that Gretchen will bring the same level of dedication, creativity, and leadership to the committee as she has to Yucaipa High School.
Please feel free to contact me if you need fuither information or insights regarding Gretchen's qualifi cations and accomplishments.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Griggs

To: Youth Advisory Committee:
Gretchen Lewis has been a varsity tennis player since her Freshman year. She is one of the kindest and most respectful students I have worked rvith. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to assist anyone on the tennis court as well as when I see her on campus. She would spend time with peers outside of class as a peer and mentor both academically and athletically, Even more impressive is how she is able to manage 2 sports as rvell as outside activities and never seems ovenvhelmed. This is a huge accomplishment for someone so young and will continue to make her successful in the future and add to the Youth Advisorv Committee next yeax.
One of my roles as a coach on campus is to monitor my students' progress academically.
Speaking with her teachers on campus was always positive. They spoke very highly of her and routinely they would say, "lt was a pleasure to have her in my class." Ms. Lewis has taken honors and advanced placement classes while at Yucaipa High School. She currently has an overall grade point average of3.9 and is ranked in the top 100 students in the Junior class.
She is a very driven person and when she puts her mind to something she will do everything to make it happen. Throughout the school year she would study or offer tutoring to others as needed to help them. She always brings a good spirit and positive energy to everything she does. The dedication, respect, energy and enthusiasm she shows on a regular basis would make her an asset and excellent representative of the youth advisory committee.
