SUBJECT: Mobilehome Park Committee Appointment
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
1) Review the attached Citizen Service Applications and nominate one applicant for the At -Large Membership to the Mobilehome Park Committee; and
2) Vote on the appointment of the nominated applicant.
DISCUSSION
On November 27, 2023, the City Council approved the addition of a standing committed called the Mobilehome Park Committee (Committee). The goal of the Committee is to regularly provide information related to the City's Mobilehome Rent Stabilization Program and to engage in an open exchange of information on matters concerning mobilehome parks in the City of Yucaipa. The Committee is comprised of seven (7) members, representing the following groups:
• Five (5) Yucaipa Mobilehome Park Residents under Rent Control; and • Two (2) Yucaipa Mobilehome Park Owners or Owner Representatives. Mobilehome Park Owners or Owner Representatives need not be residents of the City of Yucaipa.
On April 22, 2024, City Council nominated and approved the following appointments:
• Five (5) Yucaipa Mobilehome Park Residents under Rent Control o Jo Sutt
o Kathy Savage
o Petice Huntington
o Tony Slaick
o Vacant
• City Council approved the increase from Two (2) to Three (3) Yucaipa Mobilehome Park Owners or Owner Representatives. Mobilehome Park Owners or Owner Representatives need not be residents of the City of Yucaipa
o Richard Hess (Owner Representative)
o Mitch Emerson (Park Owner)
o Julie Paule (Owner Representative)
Due to the one (1) vacant position remaining on the Yucaipa Mobilehome Park Residents under Rent Control represented group, City staff advertised the vacancy in the News Mirror on April 26, 2024. The City has received two (2) Citizen Service Applications for the vacant position (Attachment 1).
Any member of the City Council may nominate an individual for membership on the Committee. A majority vote of the Council is required for an appointment to be made.
The applicants have been notified of this meeting and advised that the Council typically desires their attendance to provide additional information, if needed.
