SUBJECT: Acceptance of Contract Work - CDBG Replacement of Roof at the Scherer Community Center Building and Senior Nutrition Center Building - Project No. 11200
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council:
1) Accept the contract work completed by Best Contracting Services, Inc. in the amount of $307,040 for the CDBG Replacement of Roof at the Scherer Community Center Building and Senior Nutrition Center Building - Project No. 11200 (Project); and 2) Authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion for the Project; and 3) Accept the as -built plans for the Project.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On February 26, 2024, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $309,800 to Best Contracting Services, Inc. of Gardena, CA, to replace the roof at the Scherer Community Center Building and Senior Nutrition Center Building.
The roof had reached its useful life, was in poor condition, and needed to be replaced. The Project included removing and replacing the roofs at the Scherer Community Center and Nutrition Center buildings, replacing skylights, and replacing the lattice patio cover.
Inspections performed during the work and upon completion of the work have ensured that the work was completed in accordance with the contract specifications and requirements for each facility.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The contract work has been completed for a total of $307,400, which is $2,400 under the authorized contract budget for the Project. This project is CDBG-funded on a reimbursement basis.
