That the City Council:
1. Authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the contract with Animal Pest Management, Inc. in the not -to -exceed amount of $3,260 for a revised annual contract total of $58,372 for the City's Gopher and Rodent Control Program; and
2. Authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 2 to the contract with Animal Pest Management, Inc. in the not -to -exceed amount of $1,440 for a revised annual contract total Of $8,493 for the City's Pest Management Program.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On June 24, 2024, the City Council approved a two-year contract with Animal Pest Management Services, Inc. (APM) for the Gopher and Rodent Control Program (Rodent Program) in the amount of $55,112. The Rodent Program is designed to reduce infestations of gophers and rodents in City parks, public facilities, and Lighting, Landscape, and Maintenance Districts (LLMD) zones. Its goal is to prevent damage to irrigation lines, turf, and plants, thereby safeguarding recreational activities and other public uses. Additionally, two new LLMD zones (Zones EE and SS) have been identified for inclusion in the Rodent Program due to gopher infestations.
To accommodate the addition of these Zones into the Rodent Program, City staff recommends that the City Council approve Amendment No. 1 to the contract with APM, with a not -to -exceed amount of $3,260, for a revised FY25 annual contract total of $58,372 for the Rodent Program Also, on June 24, 2024, the City Council approved the first extension and amendment to the contract
with APM for the City's Pest Management Program (Pest Program) for a revised contract amount of $7,053. The Pest Program provides services to control crawling and flying pests such as spiders, roaches, ants, flies, wasps, and hornets at various City facilities. Due to a change in facility programming and use needs, the Incubator Center (located at the northwest corner of Yucaipa Blvd. and 5"' St.) and Oak Glen Fire Station #49 will be added to the Pest Program. It is important to note that the maintenance of Oak Glen Fire Station #49 is identified as the City's responsibility in the City's Fire Protection Services Contract with Cal -Fire.
To accommodate the addition of these facilities into the Pest Program, City staff recommends that the City Council approve Amendment No. 2 to the contract with APM, with a not -to -exceed amount of $1,440, for a revised FY25 annual contract total of $8,493 for the Pest Program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The FY25 Budget includes the cost of these recommendations. No further fiscal impact is anticipated.
