SUBJECT: Acceptance of Contract Work - Yucaipa Community Center Restroom Renovation - Proiect No. 11224
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council:
1) Accept the contract work completed by Preferred General Services in the amount of $103,934.93 for the Yucaipa Community Center Restroom Renovation - Project No. 11224 (Project); and
2) Authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion for the Project; and 3) Accept the as -built plans for the Project.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
For the last year, the floor drains in the Yucaipa Community Center (YCC) public restrooms have been consistently slow to drain, leading to frequent backups. City staff devoted valuable time and resources to regularly mopping and vacuuming the resulting backed -up water.
After careful investigation, staff and a plumbing contractor identified the cause of the backup to be debris in the drainpipe. In order to resolve this issue, a small section of the restroom floor in each restroom was removed in order to repair the drainage.
Upon searching for a replacement tile to match the existing tile, staff encountered difficulty as vendors were unable to match the tile. In addition, the repairs would require the replacement/renovation of fixtures, partitions, etc. Consequently, staff recommended and the City Council prioritized the renovation of the public restrooms in the FY25 Capital Improvement Program.
After going through the public competitive bid process, on September 23, 2024, the City Council awarded a contract to Preferred General Services in the amount of $103,934.93 to complete the Project. The City Council also approved a contract contingency amount of $10,000, bringing the total construction contract budget to $113,934.93. Staff inspections were performed during construction and upon completion to ensure that the work was completed in accordance with the plans and contract
specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The contract work has been completed for a total cost of $103,934.93, which is $10,000 under the authorized construction budget for the Project.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 9204 of the Civil Code of the State of California, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that work on the certain project known as:
YUCAIPA COMMUNITY CENTER RESTROOM RENOVATION

for the City of Yucaipa was completed and accepted by the City of Yucaipa on the 9th day of December 2024.
The said work was performed by Preferred General Services of Apple Valley, CA in accordance with the terms of the written agreement dated the 23rd day of September 2024.
