SUBJECT: Acceptance of Contract Work — 2023/2024 Pavement Microsurface & Crack Seal Program — Project No. 11221
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council:
1) Accept the contract work completed by Pavement Coatings Co. in the amount of $205,815 for the 2023/2024 Pavement Microsurface & Crack Seal Program — Project No. 11221; and
2) Authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion for the 2023/2024 Pavement Microsurface & Crack Seal Program.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On March 13, 2023, the City Council approved the FY23/24 Pavement Management Program (PMP).
Included as a part of the PMP are the Pavement Microsurface Program (Microsurface) and the Crack Seal Program (Crack Seal).
To effectively maintain asphalt streets, the crack seal process must be completed first in preparation for the microsurface process. Microsurface of asphalt streets is part of the City's annual pavement maintenance effort to maintain the City's public street network. The crack seal and the application of microsurface will extend the durable life of the existing asphalt streets and provide a more durable driving surface.
After going through the public competitive bid process,, on June 24, 2024, the City Council awarded a contract to Pavement Coatings Co. of Jurupa Valley, CA to complete the Microsurface Surface & Crack Seal Programs with a total authorized construction contract budget in the amount of $229,771.
Inspections performed by staff during the course of the work and upon completion have ensured that the work was completed in accordance with the contract specifications for the Microsurface Surface & Crack Seal Programs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The contract work has been completed for a total cost of $205,815, which is $23,956 under the authorized construction contract budget for the Project.

for the City of Yucaipa was completed and accepted by the City of Yucaipa on the 9th day of December 2024.
The said work was performed by Pavement Coatings Co. of Jurupa Valley, CA in accordance with the terms of the written agreement dated the 24th day of June 2024.
