BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Adopted FY25 Budget includes the 13th Street Sports Complex Project as a prioritized Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project. The 13th Street Skate Park is located within the 13th Street Sports Complex Facility and is situated directly south of the sports fields. Rain events and natural erosion have historically resulted in dirt and debris to be deposited from the existing slope onto the northern area of the skate park's bowl concrete surface, requiring ongoing maintenance by City staff.
This Project consisted of constructing a concrete seat wall and minor infill concrete pavement along the northern edge of the skate park. The seat wall will provide seating, retain dirt and debris from the slope, and improve safety, while the front edge of the seat wall accommodates skateboarding (grinding) similar to other active recreational features provided at the skate park.
After going through the public competitive bid process, on January 13, 2025, the City Council awarded a contract to Gentry General Engineering in the amount of $38,856 to complete the Project. The City Council also approved a contract contingency amount of $5,000, and the amount of $5,000 for construction contract administration, staff time and inspection costs bringing the total construction contract budget to $48,856. Staff inspections were performed during construction and upon completion to ensure that the work was completed in accordance with the plans and contract specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Project was completed on budget with a cost of $38,856.
