SUBJECT: Approve Purchase of Verkada Cameras
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve and authorize the purchase of Verkada cameras, licenses and installation hardware from CDWG in the amount of $87,267.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Since 2011, the City has completed Phases I-VII of the Citywide Video Surveillance System (CVSS).
There are currently 122 Verkada cameras installed at City parks, facilities and traffic signals throughout the City. These cameras have been instrumental in assisting the Yucaipa Police Department in criminal investigations and supporting public safety.
Due to the continued success of the CVSS Program, City staff has met with the Yucaipa Police Department to identify or confirm locations for the CVSS Program Phase VIII. These sites include the Community Center, Senior Center, 7th St. Park, Transit Center, Bryant Glenn Sports Complex and Jerry Lewis Regional Soccer Complex. Additionally, traffic intersections were also identified for new installs on Yucaipa Blvd. and Bryant St., Yucaipa Blvd. and 14th St., Yucaipa Blvd. and Chinaberry St., Oak Glen Rd. and Bryant St., Oak Glen Rd. and 14th St., Oak Glen Rd. and Ave E, Ave E roundabouts at 2nd St. and 3rd St., Wildwood Canyon Rd and 5th St, Sand Canyon Rd. and Campus Dr., and Live Oak Canyon Rd. and Outer Hwy 10.
CDWG has provided a quote for forty cameras, including necessary licenses and installation hardware.
Site installs are performed by staff, ensuring acceptable deployments on -site and in the cloud, while also avoiding multiyear contracts. This is considered a Piggyback Procurement as CDWG used California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS) pricing for the quote to streamline the procurement process.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$150,000 is included in the FY25 Capital Improvement Program for Citywide Cameras Phase VIII.
Allocating the amount of $87,267 will leave a balance of $62,733.
