AGENDA REPORT
Honorable Mayor and City Council
Item No.

FROM: Fermin Preciado, Director of Development Services/City Engineer Scott Washburn, Deputy Director of Public Works
Todd Gutjahr, Public Works Analyst
8 SUBJECT: Contract Amendment No. 1 with Econolite Systems - Traffic Signal Maintenance and Repair Services
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council authorize Contract Amendment No. 1 with Econolite Systems (Econolite) for Traffic Signal Maintenance and Repair Services in the amount of $20,000.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

On June 24, 2024, the City Council approved and authorized a contract with Econolite for Traffic Signal Maintenance and Repair Services, totaling $150,000 per year for FY25, FY26, and FY27. This contract includes provisions for operations and maintenance services, as well as emergency repair services for the City's traffic signal systems.

In June of 2025, Econolite was required to perform emergency repair services and replacement of a pedestrian activated flashing crosswalk traffic signal system at the intersection of Yucaipa Boulevard and 2nd Street, which was damaged in a traffic collision. Repair costs were approximately $20,200.

Staff will coordinate with the Yucaipa Police Department and the City Attorney's office to seek reimbursement from the responsible party for the repair and replacement costs.

These emergency repair services caused the contract amount to be exceeded. Accordingly, staff is requesting authorization to execute Amendment No. 1.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No budget adjustment is being requested as the existing FY25 Budget is sufficient. Additionally, if reimbursement attempts are successful, revenue will be recognized up to the $20,200 incurred.
