Yucaipa Youth Advisory,
1 am honored to recommend Skyler Miller for a position on the local Youth Advisory Committee as a representative of Yucaipa High School. As a current high school freshman, he has already distinguished himself as an exceptional student and an outstanding member of our school community.

Skyler] is outgoing, confident, and an excellent communicator —qualities that make him a natural fit for leadership and collaboration. He is well liked by both his peers and teachers, not only because of his friendly personality but also because he consistently demonstrates respect, empathy, and genuine care for others.

Currently serving as a member of ASB (Associated Student Body), he has already begun developing strong leadership skills and a clear understanding of how to represent and advocate for student needs. He enjoys participating in a wide variety of extracurricular activities and sports, and he brings the same level of enthusiasm and dedication to everything he pursues. In addition, he is a talented piano player, which reflects both his discipline and creativity.

What truly sets Skyler apart is his commitment to service and community involvement. He is eager to volunteer, contribute positively, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Whether working with classmates, engaging with staff, or participating in school activities, he consistently shows maturity, responsibility, and a strong desire to help his community thrive.

Academically, he is a dedicated and thriving student, always willing to put in the effort needed to excel. His positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine curiosity make him a pleasure to have in any classroom or leadership setting.

I am confident that Skyler would make an excellent addition to the Youth Advisory Committee.

His character, communication skills, and commitment to service make him an ideal representative of Yucaipa High School.

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Tamara Richter

Currently, what do you feel are the biggest issues Yucaipa teens encounter? To ma, the biggest issue that Leans in YucaipH era fecatl with i3 the IHCK of connection within thi3 age tlamogrephic.

Although there is arguably more connectivity in totlay's age than ever before. there is a lack of community end my pears increasignlY struggle to make organic connections with new people. 1 have noticed that there Is much social anxiety and overall lack of motivation to meet new people and foster new connections ofnina. I am vary passionate about friendships and laeming about new people from diverse backgrounds. Being able [o create r¢lationships and speak with people is an important skill for [sans to team as they head toward adulthood and [hare is a lack of spaces outside of school and class [hat are desginatatl toward fu rthadn9 those skills.

Name one person who has inspired you and Ilex the quali[{es you atlmire about that parson.

My grantlma. Lori Coleman, has always inspired ma to be a batter antl more caring parson. Grantlma Lolo always Fntls ways to make everybody feel seen antl spacial. Within my largo family, she makes a very loving effort [o know each one of use vary personally and is always quick to offer help whether if is through making a home cooketl meal, carpooling [o three tliffarent elementary schools. or even slipping us $20 for the weakantl. Evan when Grandma Lolo was struggling with health issues or a very busy life, she always kept others' Heads in mind and never falls to give whatever she can. My grantlma inspires myself antl everyone around her to [aka a Iittl¢ extra time every day to spread kindness end generosity wherever wa go.

Please Ilst any extra -curricular activities in which you pa Kicipate:
- HBS -Health antl Biomedical Science Acatlamy - a sat of cohortatl. collage -level classes basatl on human anatomy and mecical intarventians.
-ECHO Club - 1 am president of the Environmental Conservation and HumeNtadan Outreach club at Yucaipa High School. 1 create news prasan[ations, run food drives, teach geography, and lead discussions about in[amational relationships and events.
-YAPS Volunfear - 1 volunt¢ar at the Yucaipa animal shelter regularly antl complete chores, socialize and axcercisa the animals, and run adoption events.

Whac can the Youth Advisory Committee do to improve local teen's quality of life? Tha Vouth Advisory Committ¢e can improve Yucaipa teen's lives by developing designated spaces for teens to foster connections outside of social media. Through community service projects, city events, and outdoor acHvi[ies. the Youth Advisory Committee can greatly improve offline relationships. YAC will ba able to do this with [ha unique ability to spread publicity with other teens as they are peers. Although there era programs Iika the Yucaipa Trails antl Open Spaces Committee's Take a Hike. not many teens era aware of these opportunities without the VAC's help.

To whom it may concern:
[ would like to start by thanking this committee for providing youth voices to advocate in our community. I am also grateful £or the opportunity to support Zoe Staten's interest in serving her peers within your advisor sector.

She has proven consistently to be a dynamic force and demonstrates innate leadership amongst her peers at Vucaipa High School in areas o£academics and 21st Century skills in [he extracurricular activities she creates and nurtures for her cohort. She embodies and espouses strong humanitarian values and dedicates herself and time to understanding how systems work and the struggles within marginalized communities.

I began to understand Zoe's passions as a Seshman in my AP Human Geography class. It is a coupe covering tough and broad topics dealing with contemporary and historical patterns ranging from agricultural practices, religions, cultural structures, urban planning and population. I think this course was helpful to her as she engages with the diverse community in Yucaipa and also aids in her understanding of city applications. That being said, Zoe was a top student consistently in class questioning and applying patterns and theories to situations and able to converse using her new `Pools" on many new issues as they arose in the news. This led her to her commitment to ECHO Club (Environmental Conservation Humanitarian Outreach). Zoe stepped in es just a freshman to pick up where a faltering leadership became overwhelmed with senior activities. I can personally say that without her, the club would have tlissolved. Instead, she recruited and promoted, and I was incredibly impressed at her level of incorporation and devotion to the structure and elements of addressing the interest o£ members and making sure it reflected her members. She also recently spearheaded our food drive by coordinating with Yucaipa Family Services and finding out their needs for their food pantry. Together with her club members she marketed the drive and had successful results that were highly appreciated by the aid organization. I believe this kind o£ commitment will also be demonstrated in your committee, and that she will make sure all voices are heard and willing to represent her cohort as a group with vision, inclusion, and thoughtful propositions. I have had few students in my 24 years of teaching to demonstrate such a dedication to duties and tenacity toward quality of work; Zoe stands out amongst her peers consistently. She seeks ways to learn and understands herself, her abilities, and limitations. Zoe's maturity enables her m work well with all ages and has a personality and humble leadership style that makes people want to follow her lead.

Zce will be an asset to any committee, especially one that requires her to listen to constituents and represent [hem honestly. She has a sense of justice and compassion, and is able to mul[itask and keep her composure under stressful times motivating those around her. I strongly recommend her £or this opportunity to serve her community with their ideas and enthusiasm. Thank you for allowing young adults to have their place and voice in such a position.

Respectfully,
