That the City Council:
1. Review Resolution No. 2026-02 setting the 2026 City Council meeting schedule; and
2. Provide further direction to staff.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to Section 2.04.010 of the Yucaipa Municipal Code, the day and time of Council meetings shall be set by resolution of the City Council. Setting a schedule for the 2026 calendar year will assist in managing City Council meeting agendas. Special meeting dates have not been notated on this schedule as they come up on an as -needed basis.
Staff recommends that the City Council consider canceling the following Meetings:

May 25, 2026
City Hall is Closed in observance of Memorial Day.
July 13, 2026
Historically, the City has observed a Summer Recess and goes dark for one meeting during the summer.
December 28, 2026
City Hall is closed in observance of the Winter Closure.
Staff also recommends that the City Council discuss the different options related to the first meeting in October as it falls on Columbus Day and provide direction to staff.
OPTIONS
1— Cancel the meeting
City Hall is Closed in observance of Columbus Day.
2 — Meet on October 12, 2026
City Hall is Closed in observance of Columbus Day; however, the City Council would still meet. This option would require the City to provide compensation to the hourly employees required to attend the meeting.
3 — Meet on October 19, 2026
This option moves the meeting to the following Monday. The City Council would meet on back-to-back Mondays, and this would provide less than ideal timelines for the production of the agenda packet.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact varies depending on the City Council's direction as follows:
Option 1: No fiscal impact.
Option 2: The City will be required to provide compensation to the employees required to attend the meeting.
Option 3: No fiscal impact.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YUCAIPA, CALIFORNIA, SETTING THE 2026 CALENDAR YEAR SCHEDULE FOR
CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS
WHEREAS, the City Council periodically changes the date of regularly scheduled meetings; and
WHEREAS, setting a schedule for the 2026 calendar year will assist in managing City Council meeting agendas; and
WHEREAS, at the January 26, 2026 regular meeting, the City Council reviewed and considered the 2026 City Council Regular Meeting Schedule.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YUCAIPA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
