RECOMMENDATION:

2. Provide further direction to staff.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION.-
The 2025 Winterfest & Tree Lighting Ceremony was held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. in Uptown Yucaipa. The event featured a variety of holiday favorites including Santa's Workshop, rids' Zone, food and retail vendors, fire pit rentals, a beer garden, and live entertainment on the Yucaipa Performing Arts Center outdoor stage. The evening concluded with the traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony, highlighted by Santa's arrival via fire engine with assistance from the Yucaipa Fire and Police Departments.
The goal of the 2025 Winterfest was to provide an opportunity to come to the Uptown and celebrate the holiday season while making no impact to the general fund. Through a combination of vendor participation, sponsorships, beverage sales and holiday entertainment, the event generated revenues exceeding expenditures. The event costs and revenues were approximately:
Revenues: $43,797.29
Expenditures: $31,326.97
General Fund Impact: ($12,470.32)
Staff successfully secured monetary sponsorships from several local businesses, including Sorenson Engineering, Countyline Farmer's Market, Live Oak Canyon, Redlands Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Rebels Burgers & Brews, Raising Canes, Blue Zones Health,
Renewal by Andersen, and APNA Health. These contributions played a significant role in offsetting operational costs and supporting event programming.
In addition to financial sponsorships, numerous community organizations partnered with the City to support event operations and volunteer staffing, including Burrtec — Yucaipa Disposal, Kiwanis Club, Yucaipa Thigh School Community Service Club, College Corps Volunteers, and Christ the Redeemer Church.
Overall, the 2025 Winterfest & Tree Lighting Ceremony was a successful community event that provided a festive holiday experience for residents and their families while aligning with fiscal responsibility goals.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The recommendations do not result in a fiscal impact.
