That the City Council:
1. Discuss the formation of an Ad -Hoc Committee between the City of Yucaipa and the City of Calim.esa to discuss issues concerning the respective cities; and
2. Appoint two (2) members of the City Council to serve on the Ad -Hoc Committee; or
3. Provide further direction to staff.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION-
On Monday, May 4, 2026, the City of Calimesa contacted us and expressed interest in forming an Ad -Hoc Committee between the two cities. In years past, each city had a 2-member ad hoc that would get together periodically to discuss issues concerning the respective cities.
An Ad -Hoc Committee is a temporary working group of the City Council comprised of two members, created for a limited purpose and duration. The proposed Yucaipa/Calimesa Ad -Hoc Committee will convene only as needed to discuss issues amongst the cities. The Committee will not establish a standing schedule, will not include a majority of the Council, and will refrain from taking actions outside the limited authority conferred by the Council.
Should the Council choose to move forward with the formation of the Yucaipa/Calimesa Ad -Hoc Committee, the Council will need to consider and appoint two of its members to serve.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The recommendations do not result in a fiscal impact.
