BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

The California Fire Foundation has awarded the Yucaipa Fire Department a Fire Prevention & Preparedness Grant in the amount of $12,000 for the Yucaipa Community Chipping and Curbside Hazard Fuel Reduction Program. Funding for this grant is provided through the support of Southern California Edison and is intended to assist local fire agencies with community wildfire prevention and preparedness efforts.

The grant funding will support hazardous vegetation reduction activities through community chipping and curbside collection services. These efforts will help reduce wildfire risk, improve community defensible space, and enhance public safety throughout the City of Yucaipa. Acceptance of the grant will allow the Fire Department to continue proactive wildfire mitigation efforts while minimizing the financial impact on local resources.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The recommendation increases both budgeted revenues and expenditures in the FY27 Fire Department budget by $12,000.
