City of Costa Mesa Application for City Committee (2026) 2 / 4
Q3
Indicate why you wish to serve on this Committee. Provide any experience or qualifications you may possess that you think would be beneficial to this Committee. A resume (optional) may be attached.
I am deeply committed to animal welfare and to strengthening the connection between our community and the animals who depend on us. Serving on the Animal Services Committee would allow me to contribute to meaningful initiatives that promote humane treatment, responsible pet ownership, and accessible support services for residents and their pets. I am motivated by the opportunity to work collaboratively with others who share a passion for improving animal well-being and creating a more compassionate community.
Experience and Qualifications
I believe my background and community involvement make me a strong candidate for this committee:
Founder with Puppy Pals Club: Through my work with Puppy Pals Club, a community outreach charity focused on feeding animals and supporting pet owners in need, I have gained firsthand experience with the challenges faced by underserved pets and families. This work has strengthened my understanding of the importance of accessible resources and proactive community engagement.
Hands-On Animal Care Experience: Volunteering and supporting local shelters and animal organizations have given me insight into daily animal care needs, common welfare issues, and best practices in providing safe, compassionate environments.
Community Outreach & Collaboration: My involvement in local outreach efforts—including organizing food distributions for animals— has helped me build strong communication, coordination, and relationship‑building skills. I am comfortable working with diverse groups and helping connect community members with available resources.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: I am able to evaluate information, consider multiple perspectives, and help propose practical and humane solutions aligned with broader community goals.
Through these experiences, I have developed a strong commitment to supporting both animals and the people who care for them. I would be honored to bring my energy, compassion, and community-driven mindset to the Animal Services Committee. 941
City of Costa Mesa Application for City Committee (2026) 3 / 4
Q4
As a Committee member, what ideas or projects are of interest to you? Expanded Community Outreach and Support Programs:
Building on my experience with Puppy Pals Club, I would like to help develop programs that provide food, supplies, and basic care assistance to pet owners facing financial challenges. This not only supports animals in need but also helps keep pets with their families and reduces shelter intake.
Education and Responsible Pet Ownership Campaigns:
I am interested in creating user‑friendly educational materials and events focused on topics like proper pet care, spay/neuter benefits, animal safety, and emergency preparedness. Increasing public awareness can significantly improve animal well‑being and reduce preventable issues.
Volunteer and Foster Program Enhancement:
Strengthening partnerships with local organizations and encouraging broader participation in foster programs can increase the capacity of shelters and improve outcomes for animals who need temporary care.
Animal Food Assistance & Resource Distribution Events:
Organizing recurring community events—similar to food distribution efforts through Puppy Pals Club—would be a meaningful way to reach underserved areas, support pet owners, and identify community needs more proactively.
Support for Lost-and-Found Animal Initiatives:
Enhancing communication tools and awareness campaigns to help reunite lost pets with their families more quickly is another area I’m passionate about.
Overall, I am interested in initiatives that combine compassion, practical support, and community collaboration. My goal is to help create a stronger, more informed, and more connected community that prioritizes the well‑being of all animals.

Q3
Indicate why you wish to serve on this Committee. Provide any experience or qualifications you may possess that you think would be beneficial to this Committee. A resume (optional) may be attached.
I am really passionate about increasing housing supply and affordability of general living costs, and would love to be able to be more connected to that cause in my immediate area. I spend a lot of my free time reading about it, talking to professionals who engage with it at different levels (mortgage originators, developers, lawyers, politicians, etc.) and that along with the developmental changes around it (public transit, general subjects of modern urbanism, etc.) is where I am aiming to make a career.
I have attended a large number of Costa Mesa housing meetings hosted by Neighbourhood Where We All Belong and Planning Committee meetings, and so I feel very up-to-date on where things are and where they are headed in the city.
There is no doubt that I lack firsthand professional experience though, and I would be remiss to mention that—nonetheless, I would really love to be more involved with these efforts locally and feel this is one such avenue I can do that. #27#27

City of Costa Mesa Application for City Committee (2026) 2 / 2
Q4
As a Committee member, what ideas or projects are of interest to you? Genuinely, anything related to increasing housing supply and affordability and renovating the urban and suburban environment(s) of Costa Mesa. I think that Costa Mesa is a nice location and area, but has a ways to go to becoming a truly excellent urban and suburban part of the county, state, and country.
Something I am very passionate about is re-zoning, as I believe that it's one of the biggest handicaps to developmental innovation. I am very aware of the obstacles in the way of those efforts and would love to be able to get more involved with paving that way forward. Mixed-use zoning and eventually more effective public transit in the more densely populated/visited areas really interests me, and I would love to try to find ways to balance that with people's desires to stay away from that in R1 suburbs so long as that's tenable with the longer term demographics of the city.
But truly, so many different pathways lead to what I am interested in contributing to. Higher density development also allows for more green space, more bike lanes and alternatives to car transit can lead to lower traffic, a single mixed-use area can be a "testing ground" of sorts for a broader scope of it: I am enthusiastic about progress, and I believe that progress and innovation have momentum, and I would really love to be a part of pushing that momentum forward.

Q3
Indicate why you wish to serve on this Committee. Provide any experience or qualifications you may possess that you think would be beneficial to this Committee. A resume (optional) may be attached.
I have proudly served on the Costa Mesa Housing and Public Service Grants Committee since 2022 and am committed to continuing this work for another term. My experience reviewing CDBG Public Service Grant applications and collaborating with fellow members has strengthened my ability to make thoughtful, equitable funding recommendations. I am dedicated to supporting programs that serve our most vulnerable residents and look forward to continuing to provide informed, community-focused guidance to the City Council.
Q4
As a Committee member, what ideas or projects are of interest to you? I am interested in strengthening accountability by ensuring each grantee is evaluated through clear metrics and measurable outcomes.
I also see opportunities for the City to better highlight funded programs, services, and the residents they serve to showcase impact.
Over the past term, the Committee improved the grant application and rating process to better inform funding recommendations and prioritize organizations delivering meaningful results for our youth, seniors, and low-income families.
