CITY OF CYPRESS
CITY COUNCIL REPORT
City Council Regular 9.
FROM: Sean Joyce, Interim City Manager
DATE: 10/27/2025
SUBJECT: Revised City Logo Design Concept(s) for City Council Consideration and Approval
RECOMMENDATION
Select a preferred rebranded City logo from among those presented for your consideration.
DISCUSSION
On September 22 the City Council received a presentation from the City’s communications and marketing consultant revealing the citizen survey results associated with the redesign of the City’s logo and City seal. Following the presentation, the City Council approved a slightly modified City seal and asked the consultant to modify the proposed logo and return it for further Council consideration. Specifically, there appeared to be consensus that “City of Cypress” should be replaced with “Cypress California”. Further comments suggested that the stylistic mountain imagery be replaced with something more evocative of Cypress’ flatter terrain.
With the benefit of City Council deliberations, Communications Lab presents a new concept(s) for the City logo presented for your consideration.
BUDGET IMPACT
None associated with selection of a City logo. Unless directed otherwise, it is staff's intention to implement usage of the selected City logo beginning with digital formats (e.g. social media, e-mail, etc.) that do not incur costs. Future undetermined implementation costs will be incorporated into future budgets as needed.

CITY COUNCIL REPORT
City Council Regular 10.
FROM: Leo Medrano, Mayor Pro Tem
DATE: 10/27/2025
SUBJECT: Discussion and Direction to Staff Regarding Changing the Day of City Council Meetings
RECOMMENDATION
Provide direction to staff regarding changing the day of regular City Council meetings.
DISCUSSION
Ordinance 774, adopted May 11, 1987, codified § 2-1 of Cypress Municipal Code establishing that the city council shall hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
On October 13, 2025, it was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Medrano and seconded by Mayor Burke to agendize an October 27, 2025 discussion of changing the day of City Council meetings to either Tuesday or Wednesday. If such a change were to be made, it would require adoption of an ordinance revising Cypress Municipal Code § 2-1.
If the City Council were to change meeting days from Monday to Tuesday, City staff would seamlessly transition to that new day. However, if the meeting day were to be changed from Monday to Tuesday, doing so would create a conflict for City Attorney Fred Galante that could not be accommodated without requiring two other agencies that Mr. Galante represents to make adjustments to its meeting days.
BUDGET IMPACT
None associated with discussing changing the days on which the City Council would hold its regular meetings.
