Staff is proposing that this project be funded using remaining balances from previously approved projects. When Council approves a project, the funds are moved from the General Fund into one of the Project Reserve Funds. Funds remaining when a project is completed may be reallocated or returned to the General Fund. Agenda Item #C2
DATE: March 28, 2023
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
FROM: Ernesto Marquez, City Manager
BY: Joseph Jimenez, Recreation and Community Services Director RECOMMENDATION:
RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE REALLOCATION OF SPECIAL EVENT FUNDS FROM TRUCK SHOW AND TRANSFER TO THE FOURTH OF JULY BUDGET.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending reallocating the budget from the Truck Show event in the amount of $15,000 to the Fourth of July special event budget. The Truck Show was an approved special event for 2022/2023 fiscal year, but a date has not been secured during this fiscal year. Staff is recommending using these funds to support the Fourth of July event.
The City is planning on hosting a live firework show and it will be the first live show since 2019. The funds are needed as a downpayment to secure the fireworks vendor.
In years prior, the average budget for Fourth of July event have been between $20,000- $24,000. With the reallocation of the $15,000 from the Truck Show, the total budget for the Fourth of July event will be $25,000 for this fiscal year. This amount will help secure fireworks and allow the city to host a successful event.
