Historically, the Special Events Committee has functioned as a City Council Standing Committee, providing clear direction, advice, and support to the staff responsible for the overall planning.
Currently, the Special Events Committee plans and executes community events, ensuring that they meet the needs and interests of residents. The Special Events Committee meetings are open to the public and at that time public comments are offered and recorded. The Recreation Commission has been offered this platform to attend meetings as a member of the public and participate during public comment.
