Packet Pg. 555 Attachment: Planning Commission Applications (2025-24 : PC Interview Direction) and respecting the diverse viewpoints in San Ramon. My goal is to help guide responsible growth that maintains our city’s quality of life, ensures safety, and creates opportunities for families and businesses now and in the future.
growth
I believe that growth is both necessary and beneficial when it is managed responsibly. My attitude toward growth is centered on balance supporting development that meets the needs of our growing population while also protecting the qualities that make San Ramon a great place to live. Smart growth means planning for adequate infrastructure, maintaining open spaces, and ensuring that housing, schools, keep pace with new development. I support growth that is well-planned, inclusive, and sustainable, and I believe it should reflect community input and long-term goals rather than short-term gains. Growth should enhance the city’s character, economy, and livability not compromise them.

goodcandidate
I believe that I am a good candidate for reappointment to the Planning Commission because I understand the role and function of the Commission, developed through years of dedicated service. An effective Planning Commissioner requires an understanding of a wide range of complex topics – including numerous planning documents, evolving State laws, and the community. Just as important are the qualities of the individual: the ability to analyze complex material, communicate clearly in public meetings, show empathy towards both residents and applicants, and maintain strong working relations with City staff, fellow Commissioners, and elected officials. I have demonstrated these qualities via my actions as a current member of the Planning Commission. I have contributed to major efforts such as the development of the San Ramon Village Specific Plan, the development of the City Walk Master plan, reviewing numerous housing and commercial projects, and most recently, helping to update the General Plan, Housing Element, Zoning Ordinance, Objective Design and Development Standards, and the Climate Action Plan. My experience on the Commission, ongoing community involvement, and commitment to continuous learning and self-development have prepared me to continue serving effectively. I welcome the opportunity to build on this work and help guide San Ramon’s thoughtful and balanced growth in the coming years.
planning_zoning
As a current member of the San Ramon Planning Commission, I’ve gained hands-on experience with a wide range of planning and zoning matters, including both routine and controversial projects. Over my tenure, I have helped shape key plans and reviewed numerous development applications.

This practical experience, along with ongoing training, has given me a strong understanding and deep appreciation of planning and zoning principles. In addition to this direct experience, I’m committed to ongoing education and learning. I serve on the Cal Cities Governance, Transparency & Labor Relations Policy Committee, attend monthly Cal Cities Planning Commissioner meetings, and regularly participate in webinars on land use and planning topics. When budget permits, I also attend the annual Cal Cities Planning Commissioners Academy and the

9.2.a
Packet Pg. 558 Attachment: Planning Commission Applications (2025-24 : PC Interview Direction) Sonoma State Planning Commission Conference. I currently serve as the Planning Commission liaison to both the Transportation Advisory Committee and the Architectural Review Board. Previously, I served as liaison to the now-retired Economic Development Advisory Committee and as an alternate to the Housing Advisory Committee. Prior to joining the Planning Commission, I was a long-time member—and chair—of the Economic Development Advisory Committee.
contribution
The most important contribution I can make as a member of the Planning Commission is to make sound, well-reasoned decisions that align with the City’s General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Specific Plans, and State Law. I am committed to being fully prepared for every meeting, dedicating the time needed to review materials. I consistently prepare for every meeting by reviewing all materials in detail, visiting project sites, and meeting with staff to clarify issues or raise concerns. These pre-meeting discussions have helped build trust and ensure that I come to each meeting informed and ready to engage. During public hearings, I ask questions of both staff and applicants — not only to inform my own decision-making but also to help educate the public. I’ve found that this approach helps residents understand the rationale behind Commission decisions, which in turn builds confidence in the process—even when there is disagreement about the outcome. As Vice Chair and Chair, I have led discussions on complex and often contentious issues. I take pride in creating a positive and engaging environment where all input is welcome and heard. Finally, my involvement in the community through various volunteer roles helps me stay connected to a broad range of perspectives and grounded in the concerns of San Ramon residents. In summary, I bring experience, preparation, and a deep commitment to the public interest. I strive to uphold the integrity of the process and ensure that every decision reflects sound planning principles.
growth
Growth is neither good nor bad – it depends on how it is managed. I believe it is a mistake to assume that all growth is always a bad thing.

When planned thoughtfully, growth can support economic vitality, meet community needs, and enhance quality of life. Recent State legislation has significantly reduced local control over land use decisions. In response, San Ramon has taken a thoughtful approach to meeting its assigned housing targets by focusing new development away from established neighborhoods and preserving our open spaces. I think this is a good approach to managing a complex process It is important to look at growth in context and ask key questions: • What kind of growth? Housing, commercial, recreation, or other? • Where is it located? Is it adjacent to existing neighborhoods? • What are the potential impacts? Traffic, infrastructure, city services, and existing residents and how will those impacts be mitigated? • Does it meet an identified need? For example, does it provide affordable housing, senior housing, retail, or public amenities? • Are the changes consistent with the City’s General, Specific Plans, and State Law? These are the types of questions that should be addressed in the City Planning process. It is the responsibility of city leaders – elected officials, planning staff, and appointed commissioners – to growth is managed in a responsible manner.

I bring a diverse and balanced perspective, combining professional experience with community insight and leadership. With a degree in Landscape Architecture, I have a strong understanding of urban planning, land use, and growth management. I’ve also lived in the San Ramon/Danville area for nearly 30 years and have witnessed firsthand how thoughtful planning decisions shape the quality of life for residents. I understand the importance of long-term vision, community input, and responsible development, and I’m committed to contributing in a way that supports both smart growth and community values. This is an opportunity to continue serving and supporting my community, its individuals, and the overall welfare.
planning_zoning
My education and professional background in Landscape Architecture have provided me with a strong working knowledge of planning principles, zoning regulations, and land-use strategies. I’ve been involved in projects that range from park and open space planning to mixed-use development and land-use assessments, each requiring a clear understanding of zoning, environmental impact, and community needs. Beyond the technical side, I’ve also worked in roles that required me to consider planning from multiple perspectives—those of a resident, business owner, and community advocate. I understand how zoning and development decisions impact all parts of our local community, and I incorporate this perspective into my evaluation of constraints, opportunities, and long-term implications. This combination of formal training, real-world experience, and community insight enables me understand all views and contribute meaningfully to decisions that shape San Ramon’s future. contribution
I’ve lived in the San Ramon area for nearly 30 years and have seen the city change, grow, and evolve. I bring the perspective of someone who has raised a family here, used the parks and city services, and stayed involved in the community. I’ve also served in leadership roles where I’ve had to balance civic, economic, and community goals, and I understand how those areas need to work together for growth to make sense. My background in design, development, and community-focused work has provided me with a solid understanding of how decisions made at a high level have a direct impact on the community. I’m interested in contributing to the kind of planning that keeps San Ramon moving forward while staying true to what makes it a highly desirable place to live. growth
Growth is vital for the health and evolution of any community, but it must be guided by a balanced, long-term plan that considers both present needs and future impact. One of the most significant challenges facing communities across Contra Costa County is how to accommodate higherdensity and urban development while still preserving the unique character and identity of each city. San Ramon has been particularly progressive in its approach, implementing a thoughtful, well-defined growth strategy that emphasizes land use integration, open space preservation, and infrastructure alignment. Continuing this disciplined and community9.2.a Packet Pg. 561 Attachment: Planning Commission Applications (2025-24 : PC Interview Direction) focused planning model is essential to ensuring that growth remains responsible, sustainable, and aligned with the values of residents. Growth should not only support economic development and housing needs, but also protect the quality of life and sense of place that make San Ramon such a desirable and connected community.

contribution
I believe I can collaboratively and constructively contribute a unique yet well-thought-out perspective on handling complex city development matters and projects. I have the ability to filter and organize vast amounts of information and diverse ideas to fully understand the range of factors and priorities. This enables me to plan practical steps and support decisionmaking and policy development in a creative and effective manner, ensuring alignment with the city’s development goals. With a broad range of skills and knowledge in city planning, along with experience working with diverse groups of people, I am well-equipped to adapt to different situations and challenges in a constructive and productive way. growth
I view city planning as a complex, multidisciplinary subject. While growth is a key aspect, a balanced and comprehensive approach to various factors is essential not only for making growth feasible during city development phases but also for ensuring the city remains sustainable as a whole.

Urbanization is a process, and while growth can serve as a driver at certain times or stages to foster economic development and job creation, it can also cause harm if not managed properly. Pursuing growth for its own sake cannot make a city healthy or attractive, unless the city is intended purely for industrial or specialized business purposes. A long-term plan should guide the city's development and urbanization, taking into account the city's unique characteristics, its position within a larger geographic context, the need to foster a sense of community, and the importance of balancing economic, human, and environmental needs. By promoting sustainable and resilient development, cities can achieve a range of benefits, including meaningful economic growth.

My professional and community leadership experience has equipped me with a unique blend of technical expertise, collaborative problem-solving skills and a deep commitment to equitable development are qualities essential for effective service on the Planning Commission. Most importantly my soft skills: Public speaking, Listening, being empathetic and analytical ability to approach various problems. Proven Record in Land-Use Policy & Strategic Planning: As a Planning Commission member, I have evaluated complex land-use proposals, ensuring compliance with General Plans, zoning codes, and state/federal regulations (Housing Element requirements). My decisions balanced developer interests with long-term community needs, such as traffic mitigation and affordable housing. Led updates to key planning documents, including Specific Plans and zoning ordinances, to address emerging challenges like climate resilience and infill development. Revised mixed-use zoning to incentivize transit-oriented development Mediated conflicts between stakeholders (residents, businesses, agencies) by facilitating public hearings and workshops, emphasizing transparency and data-driven compromises. This experience ensures I can immediately contribute to the commission’s advisory role, offering nuanced insights into policy gaps and implementation hurdles. Hands-On Community Development Leadership My service on HOA Boards and Nonprofit Boards demonstrates my ability to translate planning principles into actionable outcomes: - HOA Leadership: President/ VP/ Treasurer oversaw communities with 150+ homes, managing architectural review, capital improvements, and budget

Trainings & Ethical Governance: I prioritize staying informed on evolving best practices Ethics & Compliance: Ethics Training and rigorous about FPPC Form 700 disclosures and ensuring impartial decision making
contribution
The most important contribution I can make as a Planning Commission member is bridging the gap between technical land-use policy and community needs, ensuring growth is both visionary and equitable. My diverse experience in public/ private sector planning, HOA governance and nonprofit advocacy equips me to a) Balance Competing Priorities, rigorously evaluate projects through dual lenses of policy compliance and human impact b) Streamline for Housing Without Sacrificing Oversight, with knowledge in recent CEQA reforms (SB 423 Multifamily housing approval, builder’s remedy) I will be able to help expedite compliant projects that address San Ramon’s housing crisis, while still safeguarding existing home-owners interests, environmental and design standards c) Demystify the Process with my track record leading nonprofit boards, HOA's and working in Planning commissions, proves I can translate complex planning jargon into accessible language empowering residents to engage meaningfully in hearings. Transparency builds trust in decisions d) Anticipate Long-Term Challenges from climate adaptation, aging infrastructure, I’ll be pushing for proactive updates to the General Plan, not just reactive fixes
growth
My attitude toward growth is Housing near jobs/transit, green infrastructure, equitable economic development. It must be intentional, inclusive and resilient, a means to elevate community well-being rather than an end in itself. I believe San Ramon can grow in ways that: 1.

Prioritize Smart Growth Principles with density done right, supporting development, ensuring design complements neighborhood character.

Housing for all with streamlining affordable housing and keeping interests of the existing homeowners 2. Safeguard Community Identity, growth shouldn’t mean sacrificing San Ramon’s unique assets parks/ open spaces, nor should opposition to change freezing younger families or workers. My experience taught me to balance preservation with evolution—like allowing ADUs while maintaining design standards 3. Demand Fiscal Responsibility, Growth must pay its way with Impact fees, developer agreements and infrastructure funding like roads, parks and schools should be non-negotiable to prevent taxpayer burdens Finally my Commitment to San Ramon City: My record reflects a dedication to equitable growth, fiscal responsibility and community engagement—values that I will uphold as a Planning Commission member. I am prepared to commit to the bimonthly meetings, FPPC disclosures and rigorous review of land-use matters to ensure San Ramon City thrives while retaining its unique character.

I believe in a balanced growth model that harmonizes the development of residential areas, particularly affordable housing, with the expansion of corporate and business sectors. This model aims to create a sustainable urban environment where economic growth and social equity are balanced.

This would include: 1. Integrated Urban Planning: Promote mixed-use zones where residential, commercial, and industrial areas coexist, reducing commuting times, enhancing local economies, and fostering community engagement. Implement flexible zoning laws and incentives for developers to include affordable housing in their projects. 2. Business Incentives:

Offer tax breaks, grants, and other financial incentives to attract businesses to mixed-use areas, with special support for startups, small businesses, and large corporations. 3. Infrastructure Investment: Improve transportation, utilities, and digital connectivity to support business operations and increase housing stocks. 4. Reasonable Green Building
Standards/Incentives: Encourage sustainable building materials and energy-efficient designs in both residential and commercial developments to reduce environmental impact and lower long-term costs based on incentives. 5. Public Transportation: Increase public transportation networks to connect residential areas with business districts, reducing traffic congestion, lowering emissions, and making commuting more affordable. 6. Public Amenities: Invest in parks, recreational facilities, and cultural centers to enhance the quality of life for residents and attract businesses seeking a vibrant community environment. 7. Streamlined Permitting: Simplify the permitting process for housing and business developments to reduce delays and costs, including the creation of a onestop-shop for permits and approvals.

Resiliency has been the cornerstone of my journey, shaped by life’s most challenging moments. From experiencing homelessness on the streets of Washington, D.C., to surviving cancer four times, I have learned the value of perseverance, humility, and finding purpose in adversity. These experiences have inspired me to dedicate my life to creating meaningful change in the communities I serve. I spent 15 years on Wall Street, advising clients on managing their finances and guiding corporations through complex strategies. This chapter of my career honed my critical thinking, long-term planning, and data-driven decision-making skills,

which are essential to thoughtful city planning and development.

Motivated to make a global impact, I moved to Africa, where I served as CEO of General Electric Ethiopia and later CEO of BetKing Ethiopia.

These roles allowed me to lead transformative projects, create sustainable jobs, and drive economic growth. As a Minister reporting directly to Ethiopia's Prime Minister, I oversaw national development initiatives, gaining invaluable experience in policy implementation and collaboration with diverse stakeholders. In addition to my professional roles, I cofounded a nonprofit organization empowering underprivileged high school girls in Africa through STEM education. What began with just five students has now grown to graduating over 1,500 students annually, with plans to expand the program further. I am now working to bring this initiative to the United States, demonstrating my commitment to investing in future generations and giving back to the community. Since returning to San Ramon, I have also launched a company dedicated to empowering individuals and small businesses through productivity coaching, financial planning, and strategic advisory. Through this work, I help clients set clear goals, develop actionable strategies, and achieve sustainable success—an approach I would bring to the Planning Commission. I am also an alumnus of the City of San Ramon Citizen Planning Academy, where I gained a deeper understanding of the General Plan and the city’s vision for thoughtful growth and development. This experience reinforced my commitment to ensuring that land use, housing, and infrastructure decisions balance the community's needs with a forward-looking vision for sustainability. My diverse background—from advising on Wall Street to driving development in Africa and now serving the San Ramon community —uniquely positions me to contribute to the Planning Commission. I am passionate about fostering a city that thrives economically, socially, and environmentally, and I am eager to bring my expertise, collaborative spirit, and dedication to this role.

I also played a critical role in mergers and acquisitions, including Wachovia’s integration into Wells Fargo Advisors, creating the world’s third-largest brokerage firm. Beyond Wall Street, I have served as CEO at General Electric Ethiopia and BetKing Ethiopia. At GE Ethiopia, I expanded operations from one to eight business units, driving growth across the healthcare, energy, and transportation industries. At BetKing, I scaled operations to 50 stores and 150 employees in just 2.5 years, fostering economic growth and job creation. As Board Chairman and Founder of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia, I worked to support U.S. companies in entering and thriving in African markets by facilitating partnerships, improving access, and fostering cross-border collaboration. I am also deeply committed to community impact and education. In St. Louis, I developed an awardwinning predictive analytics tool for high schools, enabling early identification of at-risk students and earning recognition from the Missouri Governor. In Africa, I founded a nonprofit organization sponsored by Honeywell and Coca-Cola, which has trained over 1,500 underprivileged Ethiopian high school girls in STEM education, coding, and robotics. This initiative is now being expanded to the United States to continue empowering future generations. In addition, I served as a Teaching Assistant for the Harvard Business School’s elective field course, “Building Cities: Public-Private Partnerships,” guiding MBA students on development strategies in African cities.

I bring a unique combination of professional experience, a global perspective, and a deep commitment to community development that aligns with the responsibilities of the Planning Commission. With over 15 years of experience on Wall Street and as a CEO in Africa, I have honed my skills in strategic planning, economic development, and fostering sustainable growth. These experiences equip me to approach complex land use and development issues with an analytical, data-driven mindset while considering long-term community impact. As a CEO of General Electric Ethiopia and BetKing Ethiopia, I successfully led large-scale operations, managed diverse stakeholder relationships, and implemented initiatives that created jobs and strengthened local economies. These roles required an ability to balance competing priorities and ensure that development efforts benefited both businesses and communities—skills directly relevant to guiding the thoughtful growth of San Ramon. Locally, I’ve immersed myself in understanding the city’s vision and goals by participating in the San Ramon Citizen Planning Academy. This experience gave me insight into the General Plan and its critical role in shaping the city’s future. It also reinforced my commitment to creating a community prioritizing sustainability, inclusivity, and economic vitality. Beyond my professional accomplishments, my education and community impact work has demonstrated my dedication to giving back. For example, as the founder of a nonprofit that has trained over 1,500 underprivileged girls in STEM education, I’ve seen firsthand how strategic investments in people can transform communities. This perspective will guide me in advocating for

With my background in finance, leadership, and urban development, coupled with a passion for serving my community, I am confident I can bring valuable insight, innovative solutions, and collaborative spirit to the Planning Commission. I am committed to ensuring that San Ramon continues to thrive as a dynamic, well-planned city for current and future generations.
planning_zoning
My knowledge and experience in planning and zoning stem from professional roles, academic exposure, and practical engagement with urban development projects. Professionally, as the CEO of General Electric Ethiopia and BetKing Ethiopia, I was directly involved in developing and executing large-scale projects that required navigating local planning and zoning regulations. These roles demanded collaboration with government agencies, stakeholders, and community leaders to ensure compliance with zoning ordinances while fostering sustainable growth. For example, expanding operations in Ethiopia involved securing permits, aligning with regulatory frameworks, and integrating infrastructure projects into existing urban plans. Additionally, during my tenure as CEO of the Ethiopian Tourism Organization, I played a pivotal role in developing a national tourism strategy that required zoning key regions for development while preserving their cultural and environmental integrity. I worked closely with the World Bank to create a comprehensive plan that balanced economic growth with sustainable land use, a principle that mirrors city planning goals. Academically, I deepened my understanding of planning and zoning as a Teaching Assistant at Harvard Business School, where I supported the course "Building Cities: Public-Private Partnerships." This course focused on urban planning challenges in emerging markets, teaching MBA students about balancing public and private interests in development projects. This role gave me a broader perspective on how thoughtful planning impacts cities' long-term success.

Locally, I furthered my understanding of planning principles through the San Ramon Citizen Planning Academy. This experience gave me insight into the city’s General Plan and zoning ordinances. It taught me the importance of aligning land use decisions with the community's vision for growth and sustainability. These diverse experiences equip me with a comprehensive understanding of planning and zoning and their critical role in shaping thriving, well-balanced communities. I am eager to apply this knowledge to help San Ramon achieve its long-term development goals.

The most important contribution I can make as a member of the Planning Commission is to bring a balanced, forward-thinking perspective to decision-making that prioritizes both the immediate needs and the longterm sustainability of the community. My experience as a leader on Wall Street and in global business development has honed my ability to analyze complex challenges, engage diverse stakeholders, and create actionable strategies that drive meaningful outcomes. One key contribution I bring is my economic development and urban planning expertise. Having led transformative projects as CEO of General Electric Ethiopia and BetKing Ethiopia, I understand how thoughtful planning and zoning decisions directly impact community growth, economic vitality, and quality of life. I aim to apply this expertise to ensure that San Ramon continues to be a

well-planned, vibrant city that attracts businesses, enhances residential living, and preserves environmental and cultural resources. Additionally, my ability to collaborate and foster relationships will enable me to serve as a bridge between the community, developers, and city leadership. My past roles involved working with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and non-profits to align diverse priorities and achieve shared goals. I will bring this same collaborative spirit to the Commission, ensuring that all voices are heard and that decisions reflect the needs of the entire community. Finally, I am deeply committed to giving back. My work founding a nonprofit to empower underprivileged girls through STEM education reflects my dedication to creating opportunities for future generations. I see my role on the Planning Commission as an extension of this commitment—to make decisions that leave a lasting positive impact on San Ramon’s residents and ensure the city thrives for years. Combining my global expertise, collaborative approach, and passion for community service, I am confident I can contribute to thoughtful, inclusive, and visionary planning for the City of San Ramon.
growth
Growth is essential for the vitality and sustainability of any community, but it must be approached thoughtfully and strategically to ensure its benefits to all residents. Growth should balance meeting current needs, fostering economic opportunities, and preserving the character and quality of life that make a city like San Ramon special. My attitude toward growth is rooted in the belief that it should be inclusive and sustainable. Growth should provide opportunities for businesses to thrive, families to find affordable housing, and infrastructure to support the community's evolving needs. At the same time, we must prioritize environmental stewardship, maintaining open spaces, and ensuring developments align with the city’s long-term vision and values. Having worked in global business development and led urban planning initiatives, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of balancing innovation and expansion with responsible planning. For example, as CEO of General Electric Ethiopia and BetKing Ethiopia, I facilitated growth strategies that created jobs and strengthened communities without compromising local integrity. Similarly, my work with the Ethiopian Tourism Organization required zoning and planning that promoted economic development while preserving cultural and environmental assets. In San Ramon, I see growth as an opportunity to enhance the community’s strengths—expanding economic opportunities, improving infrastructure, and diversifying housing options—while maintaining its desirable character. My approach is to embrace growth as a positive force when guided by careful planning, community input, and a commitment to sustainability. I am committed to ensuring that San Ramon's growth reflects its residents' needs and aspirations, creating a city that will remain vibrant, inclusive, and resilient for generations to come.

My legal training and experience have taught me important analytical skills that would enable me to assess complex planning proposals and understand their implications from both a legal and policy perspective, contributing to informed and balanced decision making.
growth
San Ramon is experiencing rapid growth. There is no avoiding this.

However, it's important to make sure that this growth is balanced and thoughtful. Growth should not come at the expense of our community's identity. We need to make sure that green open spaces are maintained, that the development is in line with the General Plan insofar as the new developments are walkable and bikeable, and that new development accounts for modified infrastructure that accounts for increased traffic caused by the new development and proposes strategies for easing this congestion.

The Parks & Community Services Commission consists of seven regular members with staggered terms. The term limits for Will Doerlich, Kyle Levy, Carol Lopez-Lucey and Partha Mitra expire June 2025.

The Clerk’s Office listed the vacancies on the City’s website and social media accounts soliciting applications. A total of 10 applications were received by the May 21, 2025 deadline.

Applications were received from Robert Bickle, Will Doerlich, Todd Flavio, Santhosh Kanjula, Kyle Levy, Carol Lopez-Lucey, Partha Mitra, Paul Rosa, Vasanth Shetty, and Lall Tejwani.

In February 2025, when City Council conducted interviews for the Planning Commission, it was decided that each candidate would be interviewed for 30 minutes, answering two questions per Councilmember for a total of 10 questions. Time was also allotted for opening and closing statements from the applicants. If the Council decides to interview all applicants, factoring in breaks, interviewing all 10 applicants is expected to take approximately 6 hours.

Staff is requesting that the City Council provide direction regarding the interview process and how many applicants the Council would like to invite to interview.

I want to serve on the Parks & Community Services Commission because I am passionate about enhancing the quality of life in San Ramon through well-maintained parks, a wide variety of recreation programs, and accessible public spaces. As a resident, I’ve seen firsthand how vital these resources are for fostering community connection, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting youth, seniors, and families. I am particularly interested in ensuring that our parks and programs reflect the diversity of San Ramon and are designed with accessibility, sustainability, and long-term community benefit in mind. Serving on the Commission would allow me to contribute a thoughtful, service-oriented perspective, listen to community needs, and help shape policy and investment in ways that reflect both current needs and future growth. I believe that San Ramon is a shining example of how a diverse group of residents can live and thrive together in peace and harmony. It would be a privilege to help continue the great work that has been done and to be able to play a part in making San Ramon a more vibrant, connected, and inclusive place for all residents.
knowledge_experience
While I don’t have professional experience in parks, recreation, or community services, I have a deep personal appreciation for their value and impact. I am a current member of the Arts Advisory Committee and have a good understanding of the programs and facilities in the area of Arts. As a resident, I’ve actively participated in community events, extensively explored local parks and trails, and seen how vital these services are to the well-being and cohesion of our city. Also, I have experience in coaching/referring youth sports, playing competitive sports remains a key part of my life, so I have a deep understanding of the importance that recreation activities play in the lives of not only youths but people of all ages. I bring transferable skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and a strong interest in public service. I’ve also taken time to educate myself on the role of the Parks & Community Services Commission and the kinds of decisions and planning involved. Most importantly, I care deeply about making sure San Ramon’s public spaces and programs are accessible, inclusive, and reflective of our diverse community. I am eager to contribute a thoughtful, communityoriented perspective and to learn from experienced members along the way.

I believe the most critical recreation program and parks facility needs in the City of San Ramon center around expanded access, improving youth and senior engagement, and expanding community gathering opportunities. Specifically: Enhancing/Expanding Sports Facilities – The use cases for the city’s facilities have evolved in part due to the popularity of newer sports and as a result of the city’s

9.3.a

demographics. For example, interest in pickleball, cricket, and badminton has grown significantly. As such, continuing to add new facilities or repurposing of existing ones along with offering leagues/programs to accommodate the recreation needs of the community should be a priority. Programs for Seniors and Adults – The 55+ population continues to grow in San Ramon for a variety of reasons. I think adding additional programs in the areas of fitness, wellness, and socializing for older adults promote community connection and are important for emotional well-being. Ensuring these programs are accessible and affordable is important as many in this population are out of the workforce and have more limited finances. Youth and Teen Programs – Providing programs for teens that play a part in helping to build/maintain strong emotional and physical well-being and facilitate the development of new healthy friendships with individuals of similar interests has perhaps never been so important. I believe that supporting the priorities of the Teen Council by creating/expanding recreational programs for youths & teens should be a very high priority. Examples could be expanded after-school, weekend, and summer programming, structured sports leagues, and creative options such as arts and leadership development. Community Gathering Spaces & Events– There is a need for even more outdoor event spaces, picnic areas, and cultural programming that reflect San Ramon’s diverse population and promote community engagement. These spaces and events are where our community comes together, and they help build a sense of goodwill between our residents and pride for our city. Both older more established events such as the Art & Wind Festival as well as the newer additions such as the Lunar New Year Celebration, The Holi Celebration, and the Qual Run Cricket Pitch are great examples of meeting the needs of our residents.
contribution
I believe the most important contribution I can make as a commission member is to serve as a thoughtful, engaged, and passionate advocate for the needs of the residents of San Ramon in conjunction with my colleagues on the Commission. I bring strong listening skills, a collaborative mindset, a belief that the key to emotional and physical health and well-being is staying active, and a commitment to do what is in the best interests of all of our residents.

My ability to thoughtfully assess community input, balance varying perspectives, and work toward practical, forward-thinking solutions will enable me to help guide policies and programs that serve everyone. Additionally, I am detail-oriented and have an extensive background in Finance, which means I can help ensure that decisions are not only visionary but also feasible and sustainable. Whether it’s improving park facilities, supporting teen or senior programming, or addressing long-term planning needs, I am committed to helping the commission be both responsive and innovative in its service to its residents.

The role of the Parks and Community Services staff and the programs they support are an essential and integral connection to the community - it is what makes community! The Arts are what makes a community vital - the Arts are inclusive. The Arts are welcoming.

The Arts are an equal opportunity activity that brings the people of a community together to create, learn, understand and appreciate the best of each other. My involvement with Parks & Community Services began in 1994 assisting in talent procurement - musicians, artists and ensembles - for Community events including the Black & White Party and the Art and Wind Festival. That was my path to the Arts Advisory Committee, San Ramon Arts Foundation and the Parks and Community Services Commission. The support of PCS, my City, the Arts in the Tri-Valley and providing a perspective of continuity and precedent while looking for new areas to expand the outreach into the community - that is why I want to continue my service on the Parks and Community Services Commission to San Ramon.
knowledge_experience
The Park System in San Ramon is the best in the Tri-Valley and throughout the Bay Area, There are many factors in creating a park environment within a community - quantity, quality, variety, location, maintenance and care. There is a balance in providing the high level of service expected and delivered and the various needs of community segments and cost. The services and program side of the PCS is the "software" to the "hardware" infrastructure - it is what brings the parks and facilities to life! Sports, Arts, Education, Camps ... these are the fulfillment of the work of creating venues and buildings! The important trend is looking for constant feedback and critiques from the residents and non-residents alike to keep the programs current and relevant. My experience in working the food

9.3.a
Packet Pg. 594 Attachment: Parks and Community Services Commission Applications (2025-25 : PCS Interview Direction) booths at the Art & Wind Festival, producing music events and being a part of the DVPAC since the premiere event have provided a "hands-on" perspective that is essential to my being able to be constructive in my evaluation and strategic focus as a commissioner. criticalprogram
The most critical recreation program and parks facility need is ... what the residents give the staff and the commission as feedback.

Every meeting "Public Comment" is encouraged and is essential to continue to enhance and improve existing programs and create new offerings that have been suggested by the residents - our customers! While not every suggestion can be integrated or added to the strategic ad general plan, it is an essential mix of the planning and expansion of programming. This is evident in the evolving presence of cricket and pickle ball facilities in the city. Both have a large community segment that is very interested in these activities and the availability of the relevant facilities to allow sufficient court and pitch time! There must also be consideration to provide the services and programs in a fair and equitable way so that cost is not a barrier to participation. This is related to the budget issues and the role that a cost-recovery strategy is an essential view in the Parks and Services segment of the city funding. Cost-Recovery is an important metric, but not for every program / service and not to the exclusion of segments of the residents on the city. The critical program is the delivery of services and facilities in which the residents support, want and participate. As in all city government, we are first the servants of the residents and then the guardians of the culture and environment that defines that city.
contribution
The contribution I bring to the Commission is a continuity of care, involvement and personal commitment to the programs, the parks and the people of San Ramon. It is important to look ahead but with the knowledge and awareness of the legacy of the past 40 years. Our community has changed dramatically in that time. While some in the community are not comfortable with the evolving scene of San Ramon, it is with the consideration of the future that we look for the best way to secure a continual aspect of excellence, involvement, awareness and inclusion that describes the character and personality of the City. I am also involved throughout the Tri-Valley both in my business as well as with community involvement and the Arts. It is important that we leverage and partner with our Tri-Valley neighbors as it is to our advantage to be a part of the region. I want to accept that challenge over the next four years to progress the work of PCS with a perspective of the future and an appreciation of the accomplishments that provide the strong foundation to move forward ... Thank you for the opportunity to continue my service ...

whycommission
Serving my community has always been important to me as a longtime resident of both Danville and San Ramon. I’ve been fortunate to raise my family in a community that offers strong schools, cultural diversity, economic opportunity, and exceptional parks and public resources. These have had a significant impact on our quality of life, and I recognize the vital importance of maintaining and improving these assets for others. Joining the Parks & Community Services Commission is a natural extension of my commitment to giving back and staying engaged. I want to help shape policies and programs that ensure our parks and recreational services remain accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving needs of our community. My background in leadership, community development, Urban Planning, and collaboration can contribute to thoughtful planning and long-term success for San Ramon.
knowledge_experience
I’ve been a resident of the San Ramon/Danville area for nearly 30 years and have actively engaged in the community, both personally and professionally. My family has benefited from the region’s exceptional parks, fields, and recreation services, and I’ve also explored how other communities approach these amenities to better understand both successes and challenges. My education in Landscape Architecture and professional background have given me a strong understanding of community needs, land use, urban planning, and program development—key elements in fostering higher engagement and long-term value. I’ve also served in community leadership roles that focused on improving access, adoption, and utilization of local services and the business community. I’m committed to contributing that insight to support San Ramon’s future.
criticalprogram
The most critical needs are expanding accessibility and advancing inclusive, diverse programming, especially for seniors and young children. As San Ramon continues to grow and shift toward higherdensity living, our parks and community services must adapt to ensure that all residents remain connected and engaged. Seniors often face challenges related to mobility and transportation. With more senior housing being developed near the city center, we require more effective solutions. The continued integration of autonomous transportation can help bridge that gap and improve access to parks and programs for those who need it most. At the same time, youth are increasingly disconnected from outdoor spaces due to electronic distractions. Encouraging engagement outside the home is essential.

These programs and spaces should provide young people with a sense of connection, activity, and purpose. I understand how thoughtful planning and forward-thinking solutions can drive

I can offer three key areas of impact as a commission member: My professional background in Landscape Architecture provides me with a strong understanding of urban planning, land use, and growth management—skills that directly support the thoughtful and sustainable development of parks and recreation resources. As a long-time resident of the San Ramon Valley, I bring the perspective of someone who has actively utilized and benefited from the city’s parks, programs, and facilities. I understand firsthand what works well and where there are opportunities for improvement. I have a lifelong commitment to community leadership, involvement, and service, and this role is a natural extension of that. It’s an opportunity to continue supporting our city’s growth, help shape its future, and ensure all residents feel connected through accessible, high-quality public spaces and programs.

I also managed budgets for amenities and facilitated resident input—skills directly transferable to stewarding park resources and programming. criticalprogram
I see the most critical recreation program and parks facility needs center on equity, accessibility, sustainability and community engagement. These priorities ensure public spaces and services meet the evolving demands of diverse populations while addressing systemic gaps. Below are key areas, I would focus: 1. Ensure adequate parks, trails or recreation centers for all residents. Strategic investments in these areas, guided by data , population density is essential 2. ADA Compliance & Inclusivity: Facilities must accommodate all ages and abilities, with features like wheelchair accessible playgrounds, sensory-friendly programming and multilingual outreach 3. Parks should integrate drought-resistant landscaping, stormwater management, and shade structures to combat excessive heats 4. Prioritize deferred upkeep maintenance backlogs such as aging playgrounds, restrooms, to ensure safety and longevity 5. whycommission
Having been fortunate enough to serve on the Parks and Community Services Commission since being appointed in August of 2023, I have actively participated in the role that the Commission plays in providing voices from the community to advise the City Council and City staff about the recreational programs, events, facilities, and services that the City provide for this community. I've involved myself in other aspects of the Community as well to help grow and develop my perspectives on this City and the services that it offers to residents. I'd like to continue my service on the Commission so that I can build upon the experiences that I've gleaned so far, and continue to grow and develop, much as the City itself does. I take the responsibility of serving on the Parks and Community Services

Packet Pg. 604 Attachment: Parks and Community Services Commission Applications (2025-25 : PCS Interview Direction) Commission very seriously and enjoy devoting the time and effort it takes to provide informed, effective input. I want to continue to help provide focus and feedback to staff's efforts to deliver the most effective services possible to this community.
knowledge_experience
Since being appointed to the Parks and Community Services Commission in August 2023, I have involved myself in the Commission's work and the activities of the Parks and Community Services Department. I serve on the Commission's Facilities Subcommittee and have served as the Commission's liaison to the Library Advisory Committee and the Teen Council. I have also participated on the Ad Hoc Interview Panels that the Commission convenes to interview applicants for the Library Advisory Committee, Teen Council, and Arts Advisory Committee. During my service on the Commission, I have provided input into several significant projects, including the Crow Canyon Gardens Phased Plan; Parks, Trails, Open Space, and Recreation Master Plan; Ramona Park Playground Replacement; Boone House Restoration Project; and Bishop Ranch City Walk Public Art Master Plan. I've also volunteered to represent the Commission at numerous community events, including the Art and Wind Festival, Bah Humbug Run, Culture in the Community, public art piece
unveilings, and the grand opening of Sunrise Ridge Park. I have actively participated in several of the programs offered by the Parks and Community Services department, including the Secret History Tour and a Dark Skies Alliance Nightwalk. Outside of my service on the Commission but still related to it, I also served as the Campaign Treasurer of Residents for San Ramon - Yes on Measure N, a grassroots advocacy campaign committee made up entirely of San Ramon residents which successfully advocated in favor of a 1% local sales tax measure on the November 5, 2024 ballot. This measure was necessary to help the City responsibly address a structural budget deficit while protecting San Ramon's vital public services, including police services, first responders, street maintenance, public library hours, and park maintenance. During that campaign, I developed a very real understanding of how vitally important the residents feel it is for the City to be able to provide those services to them.

San Ramon is a growing and thriving community, with more housing, and thus more residents, well on the way. In the years to come, the population served by the City is going to significantly increase, and the recreational programs and park facilities provided by the City will need to either increase along with it, or find new and more efficient ways of delivering services. There are three critical recreational program and parks facility needs : 1) Providing relevant programming; 2) Identifying new ways to be fiscally responsible in light of increasing costs for goods and services; and 3) Maintaining San Ramon's vast amount of existing parks facilities infrastructure. 1) Relevant Programming: The City has already changed, for the better, so much during the time that I've lived here, and I've noticed that the programs and priorities have evolved as well, as they should.

9.3.a
Packet Pg. 605 Attachment: Parks and Community Services Commission Applications (2025-25 : PCS Interview Direction) criticalprogram
Identifying programs that reflect and value the cultural makeup of the City's residents while building wider community ties should be a main focus of staff's efforts. San Ramon is also blessed with vibrant and varied programs for youth, but as the current population of San Ramon ages and newer residents are often young professionals without families, more programming needs to be developed and targeted to those demographics as well. 2) Fiscal Responsibility: San Ramon prides itself on fiscal responsibility and provides much using comparatively little, but the costs of existing goods and services are only going to increase. The Parks and Community Services Department has long had a goal of 50% cost recovery for the programs that it offers, and that goal is going to become increasingly unsustainable to meet at basic costs increase while attendance and participation reaches a finite ceiling. San Ramon has a limited retail footprint and thus limited revenue sources - while the Measure N revenue will help close some of the gap, it is not enough by itself and is not an indefinite funding source. The City will need to continue to find ways to efficiently budget and identify new partnerships and sponsorship opportunities. 3) Infrastructure: San Ramon already has nearly 60 parks with several more on the way, as well as four community centers, two libraries, two performing art venues, two aquatics centers, and numerous sport courts and sports fields. It's going to become harder as time goes on to maintain the City's parks and recreational infrastructure, so prioritizing maintenance and improvements to the most important and well-used recreational facilities is crucial. Since such projects can be very expensive and exceed available funds, identifying phased approaches whenever possible is an efficient way to plan for needed improvements while being mindful of budgetary constraints. contribution
I am a young professional who has helped bring the perspective of that particular demographic and its needs to the Parks and Community Services Commission. I feel that the knowledge I have acquired of some of the City's policies, practices, and personnel during my service has helped me to bring an informed perspective to my community in general. I am also an employee of local government, but for a completely different jurisdiction and subject matter, so I am able to bring the experience and understanding of the opportunities that local government provides, but without any conflicts of interest or biases. I understand the role that the Commission plays in the policymaking process and I know how helpful the feedback that the Commission provides to staff and the City Council can be. Engagement and active participation are key, and I have actively tried to contribute to healthy civic discourse in my community by being involved in it.

You feel you make a difference. I like being involved in community events. I am proud to be a commissioner. It enables me to answer questions and work with citizens about different aspects about San Ramon. You are an ambassador for the City.

I think my past experience as a Park Commissioner will show what my experiences has been. If continuing I would continue to be involved, keeping abreast of new laws, always be available to talk with citizens and work closely with the Council and others for the City. Currently, there are lots of new homes being built, changes in our community and I will need to keep abreast of happenings, be open to new ideas and work for the betterment of San Ramon.

Working with the director of Parks is most important and making

With all the park now becoming older, maintenance is most important. We are known for our wonderful parks and we need to keep them up to date. With new development we need to learn and develop new avenues for our growing city. We must not lose the community spirit that our city has. Continue to make our citizens be responsible and have them become more involved with city activities.
contribution
Keep abreast of what is happing in the city, study about different issues and continue to be involved in all areas for the city. Be proud to be an ambassador for the city and a resident who makes sure our city continues to grow in a loving and friendly manner. I am concerned that Bollinger Canyon Road is becoming a heavily traveled area and a congested. We should be aware of this issue.

knowledge_experience
I have had the privilege of serving as a Parks and Community Services Commissioner for the past four years and am currently serving as the Chair of the Commission. This role has provided me with a deep understanding of the City’s parks, facilities, programs, and the strategic planning that goes into supporting San Ramon’s high quality of life. In addition, as a founding member and former President of Agomoni, a local nonprofit organization focused on community building and cultural enrichment, I have worked extensively with the City’s community centers and recreational facilities. We have hosted large-scale events such as the Agomoni Durga Puja at the San Ramon Community Center at Central Park for several years, as well as other cultural programs at various city venues. Through this experience, I’ve developed strong working relationships with Parks and Community Services staff and facility management. On a personal level, my family and I are regular users of San Ramon’s parks and recreational amenities. We frequently visit neighborhood parks and make active use of the city’s tennis and basketball courts. I truly appreciate the city’s well-distributed network of over 50 parks and recreational spaces, which contributes to San Ramon’s reputation as one of the most desirable places to live in the Bay Area. I also have firsthand experience with the City’s seasonal recreation programs and camps, which offer a wide variety of options in sports, wellness, performing and cultural arts, martial arts, and therapeutic activities for all ages. My twin daughters have participated in many of these programs over the years, and I’ve seen the positive impact they have on youth development and community engagement.

As an active and engaged member of San Ramon’s diverse
community, I view our city’s recreational and park services as falling into four key categories: 1. City-led community events such as the Art & Wind Festival, Run for Education, Culture in the Community, and Summer Concert Series, which bring the
community together and celebrate our city’s vibrant culture. 2.

Sports and athletic facilities that support year-round activities like baseball, soccer, basketball, cricket, and others—essential for promoting youth development, healthy living, and community engagement. 3. Privately organized events at City facilities, such as Agomoni Durga Puja, Maya Bazaar, Diwali celebrations, Dandiya nights, and various holiday events. These activities foster cultural inclusion and make San Ramon a model for community-driven diversity. 4. Seasonal recreational programs for all ages—including preschool camps, youth enrichment, performing arts, wellness, and therapeutic offerings—which serve as vital community-building

9.3.a
Packet Pg. 612 Attachment: Parks and Community Services Commission Applications (2025-25 : PCS Interview Direction) criticalprogram tools and lifelong learning opportunities. From my perspective, San Ramon’s recreational programs are thoughtfully designed and professionally managed. My own family has benefited from them— particularly my daughters, who have participated in a wide variety of enrichment and arts programs over the years. The breadth of offerings ensures there is something for everyone in our community.

Two programs that stand out as particularly impactful are the Teen Council and Senior Services programs. The Teen Council gives our local youth invaluable opportunities to develop leadership, civic responsibility, and real-world skills—helping shape the next generation of community leaders. Meanwhile, the City’s
commitment to senior engagement and assistance reflects a deep respect for our elder residents. These programs not only provide essential services but also promote intergenerational connection and inclusion. Going forward, I believe it’s critical to continue supporting these types of programs, while also ensuring our facilities and open spaces remain accessible, safe, and adaptable to the evolving needs of San Ramon’s growing and diverse population. contribution
Parks and Community Services is the heart of any vibrant, familyoriented city like San Ramon. As someone with an active social life and a deep sense of civic responsibility, I’m committed not only to benefiting from our community programs and facilities, but also to giving back through meaningful service and leadership. My personal motto has always been to “organize and make things happen” for the community I live in. If given the opportunity to continue serving on the Parks and Community Services Commission, I will bring the experience and perspective I’ve gained over the past four years as a Commissioner—including my current role as Chair—as well as over 20 years of professional and leadership experience across startups and global organizations, both domestically and internationally. In addition to my professional background, I bring strong community ties built through years of grassroots involvement. As a founding member and past president of the nonprofit organization Agomoni, I’ve helped foster cultural engagement and community connection through large-scale events and philanthropic initiatives. I was also actively involved in community support efforts during the COVID19 pandemic, working closely with SRV Medical Center and other local groups. My previous service on the City’s Arts Advisory and Library Advisory Committees, my role with the San Ramon Valley Diversity Coalition, and my contributions to school fundraising through local education foundations have further deepened my understanding of our city's needs and values. I believe my unique combination of civic experience, professional leadership, and community involvement allows me to serve as a well-rounded and impactful Commission member. I am deeply invested in the future of San Ramon and hope to continue contributing to the development of inclusive, accessible, and enriching parks and community services for all residents as a San Ramon Parks and Community Services Commissioner.

going on both on the web, in social media and in our parks and facilities. I love the parks and I realize that budgets are only going to get tighter for a while. So the key here is finding ways to connect to the adults and children of our community in ways that can be done under-budget and in ways that truly enhance the daily lives and level of joy of the young and old, and both the wealthy and the financially challenged. Parks are about "re-creation" - they are about giving people outdoor space and activities that re-create joy in a community where so much time is being spent in offices, or home-offices and on computers and smart-phones. We need to make it easy and fun for our community to "get some fresh air, make friends, get back to nature, smell the flowers, the trees and the creeks." And for our Elementary and Middle Schoolers we need to get them breaking a sweat, learning some sports, learning TEAMWORK on a sports team, and yes learning actual crafts and skills that are simply not being taught in our public schools where if it is not being taught on a 10" laptop, well it is just not being taught at all. whycommission
I am deeply committed to the well-being and vibrancy of San Ramon, a city where I have been a proud resident for the past ten years. Our parks, recreational facilities, and community services are essential to our quality of life. My desire to serve on the Parks & Community Services Commission stems from a passion to
contribute to these vital resources' strategic development and enhancement. I aim to leverage my experience from serving on the San Ramon Economic Development Committee, my participation in city programs like the Police Citizen Academy, Government 101, and Planning Academy, and my active involvement in various sociocultural and service organizations to ensure that our parks and community services continue to meet the evolving needs of our diverse population. Ultimately, I want to help San Ramon become one of the most desirable places to live in the United States, and I see the Parks & Community Services Commission as a key avenue to achieve that goal.
knowledge_experience
While my professional background is in finance and program management, my experience in community engagement and city programs has provided me with valuable insights into the needs and priorities of San Ramon residents regarding parks, recreation, and community services. My involvement in the San Ramon Economic Development Committee gave me a broader understanding of the city's overall planning and development, including parks and recreation's role in attracting and retaining residents and businesses.

Furthermore, completing the Police Citizen Academy, Government 101, and Planning Academy courses has deepened my understanding of how city departments, including Parks & Community Services, function and collaborate. My active participation in various local socio-cultural and service organizations has also allowed me to directly interact with residents and understand their diverse recreational interests and needs. Having ran multiple marathons, I am also an avid user of San Ramon's parks, trails, and recreational facilities, which gives me a firsthand perspective on their value and

criticalprogram
Based on my observations and community involvement, I believe several important recreation programs and parks facility needs attention: 1. Enhanced Accessibility and Inclusivity: Ensuring that all parks and programs are accessible to residents of all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities. This includes accessible playgrounds, trails, and recreational programs. 2. Expansion of Programs for All Ages: While San Ramon offers excellent programs, there's always room for growth. This includes expanding programs for teens, young adults, and seniors to cater to our community's diverse interests. 3. Maintenance and Upgrades of Existing Facilities: Maintaining the high quality of our existing parks and facilities is crucial. This includes regular maintenance, upgrades to aging infrastructure, and ensuring safety and cleanliness. 4. Trail Connectivity and Expansion: San Ramon is known for its trails, and enhancing their connectivity and expanding the trail network to reach more neighborhoods is essential for promoting active lifestyles. 5. Community Gathering Spaces: Creating more dedicated spaces for community events, festivals, and gatherings. This could involve expanding existing facilities or developing new ones. 6.

Technology Integration: Exploring opportunities to integrate technology to enhance the user experience, such as mobile apps, online program registration, park information kiosks, and digital trail maps. 7. Addressing the needs of a growing population: As San Ramon continues to grow, it is essential to plan for future needs by acquiring and developing new parkland and recreational facilities to serve the increasing population.
contribution
I can bring a collaborative spirit and a genuine passion for community engagement. I listen, build consensus, and work to ensure that all voices—especially those from underrepresented groups—are heard in shaping San Ramon’s recreational future. My vision is to help San Ramon become one of the most desirable places to live in the United States. I believe vibrant, inclusive, accessible parks and community services are central to achieving that goal.

Some of my contributions as a commission member would be: 1.

Strategic Thinking and Planning: My extensive experience in program management, including multi-million dollar projects and liaising with cross-functional organizations and C-level executives, will enable me to contribute to the strategic planning and development of our parks and community services. 2. Community Engagement and Collaboration: My active involvement in various socio-cultural and service organizations in San Ramon has given me a strong understanding of community needs and the ability to build consensus and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders. 3.

Financial Acumen: My master's degree in finance & business management and professional experience will be valuable in evaluating budget proposals, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and identifying potential funding sources for park and recreation

Dedication to Service: My previous service on the San Ramon Economic Development Committee, my participation in city programs, and my city council campaign demonstrate my strong commitment to serving the San Ramon community. I am a dedicated and passionate advocate for our city's well-being. 5. A fresh perspective: Having contested for the city council, I understand the issues facing San Ramon residents, and I can bring that perspective to the commission.

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/atejwani/ BS - Computer Science, California State University, Dominguez Hills - 1988. I retired in 2021 after working for about thirty five years as an Information (IT) Technology Enterprise Architect delivering IT services globally. Since then I have been hiking parks and climbing mountains in every corner of the globe: Examples - Yosemite Half Dome, Everest Base Camp (Nepal), Machu Pichu (Peru) and Camino de Santiago (Spain and Portugal). In my spare time I am an investor in equities (stock and private) and real estate. whycommission
My retired lifestyle and love for the outdoors - city, state & national parks. As a resident of San Ramon for 26 1/2 years (since Nov 1999) I have enjoyed the services offered by Parks and Community Services. Now is my time to give back to my community!!! knowledge_experience
My first job after graduating from college with a computer science was for the City of Los Angeles - Information Technology Agency (ITA) where I worked for about 7 years. Within those 7 years I worked for various departments/agencies - Recreation and Parks, LAPD, Mayor's Office, etc. I automated various aspects of these departments/agencies with the ultimate goal of "Los Angeles brings it all together". I kept this mind everyday and my that my job was to serve every resident member of the City of Los Angeles! In Nov 1999, we moved to San Ramon, with 3 boys, in elementary then, and mother in law, who just turned 90 2 months ago. Both my wife and I have take our children and mother and enjoyed the parks, senior and community centers, and special events. Last year, I graduated from the San Ramon Police Community Academy, which gave me further local government and community experience.
criticalprogram
I have lived in San Ramon for over 26 years and can proudly say that it offers world class recreation and community services! Having said that the one area of overall improvement I would suggest is "Adapt to changing demographics".
contribution
I am passionate about outdoors and community services - Teaming with fellow San Ramon Park and Community Commissioners we want it to be the best in the World!
