EXTERNAL
The State Housing Department rejected the initial housing element finding there was a "pattern of segregation" [the Pico Neighborhood] and developing more low income housing in the Pico Neighborhood "perpetuated segregation". The last 4 city developed low income housing projects were constructed in the Pico Neighborhood, [19th and Pico, and 3 on 14th St. between Michigan and Pico] violating Fair Housing Laws and the State Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Statute, Government Code 8899.50. Now the City intends to dump ANOTHER REGIONAL SOCIAL SERVICES PROJECT IN THE PICO NEIGHBORHOOD., 1634 20TH --SEE ATTACHED
THIS GRANT APPICATION MUST CONTAIN A PROVISO IT WILL NOT BE USED TO PERPETUATE THE SEGREGATION OF THE PICO NEIGHBORHOOD. Please include a proviso : The funds will not be used to build between Pico on the South, Lincoln on the West, Centinela on the East , and Santa Monica Blvd on the North. Don't allow the followers of George Wallace in the Housing Department to keep dumping low income housing in the Pico Neighborhood.
Respectfully submitted,
Mathew Millen
