I write in a personal capacity regarding Item 2.F on the upcoming City Council agenda. I would like to express disappointment in Assemblymember Zbur's opposition to Senate Bill 79 this year. SB 79 is needed to help alleviate our severe housing crisis by working to allow more housing and mixes of uses near transit. Doing so will act on our climate and affordability goals simultaneously. Our stakeholders suffering from expensive costs demand action now.
The Santa Monica City Council voted to support SB 79. I would like City Council to ask the Assemblymember why he ignored the voices of our community in support of this much-needed bill.
