The Santamonican Club’s Local Scholarship Membership Program The Santamonican is designed as a family-centered membership community, which differs from traditional private clubs or adult social clubs. The intention is to create a safe, welcoming environment where families of all ages can spend meaningful time together while participating in curated activities and programming designed for different stages of life.

Programming may include seasonal camps, daytime youth activities, family gatherings, garden and outdoor programming, educational workshops, parent networking opportunities, date-night events, and community-oriented gatherings. The goal is to provide a space where parents, children, and multigenerational families can connect, relax, and participate in thoughtfully designed activities that support family life and community building.

Because the space is curated and intentionally programmed, membership supports the operations, staffing, and programming that make these experiences possible. At the same time, we recognize that not every Santa Monica family will be able to participate through a full membership.

For that reason, the Santamonican will establish a Local Scholarship Membership Program intended to ensure that a diverse range of Santa Monica families can participate in the community.

Key elements of the program include:

Community-Focused Scholarships
A limited number of scholarship memberships will be reserved each year for Santa Monica residents who contribute meaningfully to the local community but may not otherwise have access to a membership.

These may include local educators, small business owners, nonprofit leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, and working parents who would benefit from the family-oriented programming and community environment.

Community Contribution Model
Unlike traditional private clubs that focus primarily on professional status or social recognition, scholarship selections will consider how individuals contribute to the community both inside and outside the club environment. This may include community leadership, educational involvement, creative work, neighborhood engagement, or service to the Santa Monica community.

Guest Participation
Many events and programs will allow members to bring guests, providing another way for families and community members to experience the space and programming without requiring a full membership.

Select community events throughout the year will also be open to the public.

Intentional and Diverse Community Building
The goal of the scholarship program is not simply to provide discounted access, but also thoughtfully build a diverse and inclusive family community within the club. The mix of members will reflect a wide range of backgrounds, professions, and life experiences that enrich the environment for families and children.

This approach reflects the long-standing values of the Santamonican’s founders and the broader team behind the project, who have always prioritized community engagement and diversity in their businesses.

By combining membership support, guest participation, scholarship opportunities, and community events, the Santamonican aims to create a welcoming space that serves both its members and the broader Santa Monica community.
