ACTION:
Appoint a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore for Calendar Year 2026.
SUMMARY:
Each December, the City Council conducts its annual appointments, selecting one member to serve as Mayor and one member to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the upcoming calendar year.
DISCUSSION:
Per Resolution No. 09-72, appointments to the positions of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are conducted annually at the December City Council Meeting. The regular term of office for both positions is one calendar year, commencing January 1st and concluding December 31st. In the event the Mayor or Mayor Pro Tem is removed or the position otherwise becomes vacant prior to the expiration of the term, the successor shall assume office immediately to serve the unexpired portion of the term in addition to the subsequent one-year term.
Accordingly, it is appropriate at this time for the City Council to appoint a Mayor and a Mayor Pro Tem for the period of January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.

BACKGROUND:
The City Council reviews the list of city representatives and alternates for various committees, commissions, and boards annually in December, and as requested. The last update was approved on December 9, 2024 (attached).
DISCUSSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council review the attached list and make revisions as needed. The appointments are effective immediately through the following calendar year or until revised by the City Council.
