A NEW TOMORROW
ifgrit makes a pearl and pressure makes a diamond, 2020 presented a set of conditionsthat polished our beloved
Sonoma Community Center into the shiny gem we know itto be.The challenges we faced inspired creativity beyond measure, and laidthe groundwork for a strong,
dynamic, exciting, and more inclusiveyear ahead.

Just a few ofthe things we're looking forward to are the return of oursignature TrashionFashion event, which will be broadcast virtually for the second year in a row; as well as a slew of amazing additionsto our arts programming —— including exhibitions with Anela Ming-Yue Oh, our
interdisciplinaryresident artist on June 4 and Stitches, an allwoman show with seven artists, proposed by Emily
Marks. We're also excited to announce a new program
in partnership with Jack London State HistoricPark: a workshop on drawing natural landscapes and printing with botanicals.

Thissummer, we're excited to launch a new series of summer camps for youth and teens, offering a variety of art-focused activities including upcycling and eco design. fiber arts, ceramics, mixed media, and printmaking. We've also designed a bra nd-new two~week Self Expression
Camp that specifically supports LGBTQiA+teens and
allies, creating space forteens to explore various art
techniques that facilitate radicalself-expression and
empower their individualvoices. Through this camp
and future programming. we are developing a new
partnership with Positive images, and embarking on
deeper collaborationswith LGBTQIA-ratists and thought
leaders.

We're looking ahead at these exciting plans with renewed energy, renewed motivation, and a new strategic
fonrvardto stronger collaborationwith our partners and tenants, to an expansion of programming - including dance and movement classes- and to welcoming our new Executive Director,Charlotte i-iajer.Lookout for more news about these and other updates on social media and the local press — we'llbe sharing stories and goings-on at the Center regularly! r "7"" '4

"l'mhonored tojoin the Sonoma Community

The Center has an amazing community of
staff, Board, and supporters, and i couldn't
be more excited to work with you alIto bring
extraordinary creative, cultural, and learning
experiences to the Sonoma Valley. As a
member ofthis community you are a part of
what makes the Center so special, and Ilook
forward to meeting you allsoon."
- Charlotte Hajer
Ultimately, what we're most excited about is simply
welcoming the members of this wonderful organization and community again in person. Whileour doors were shut, some beautiful transformations took place — including a new floor display, a new and improved Print Studio with expanded printmaking capabilities, and newwindows on the east side of the building that increase energy efficiency allwhilehelping preserve our historic building! This isjust a snapshot of allwe plan to offer this coming year as we continue to find safe, creative ways to engage and connect. We lookforward to seeing you some time soon! Agenda Item #9.1:
